The Double-D Avenger - Chastity Knot Transforms

Sadly, I have seen most of the entire feature film "The Double D Avenger". Someone sent it into National Lampoon in an attempt to get us to acquire it, and we turned it down.
Some of the highlights:
The Double D Avenger gets her superpowers by traveling to "the Amazon" (which is clearly just someone's garden in Reseda or Van Nuys) in order to find a cure for her advanced case of breast cancer. Nothing says porn comedy like opening with a breast cancer diagnosis!
The cure for said cancer was licking a fake plant whose fruit is a rubber dildo.
The character "Ooga Boobies" is not unlike a pokemon, where she literally says nothing but "Ooga Boobies!" as a response to everything, even intense 7 minute dialogue scenes with the wall-chewing evil scientist mastermind who sent them to attack the DD Avenger in the first place. The line you see here where she says "Ooga Boobies, we go!" is, as far as I can remember, the only departure from this pattern in the entire film. The ancient Greek and Pirate themed baddies are similar in dialogue.
This film probably set the world record for most awkward euphemisms for breast and breast-related puns. Literally almost every line in the entire 75 minute film.

Yeah, sorry, but I'm going to have to agree with that the show was actually worth watching. I think the Internet Age has ruined our perception of just how awesome and innovative this show was.
It was insane to think this was airing on a cable television show at the time, let alone a children's cartoon network as their ONLY ORIGINAL PROGRAMMING.
I owe a considerable debt to Space Ghost Coast to Coast for, better or worse, expanding my horizons of what "accepted mainstream" comedy was, and that I didn't have to keep swallowing the sitcom and talk show drivel that was being crammed down my throat as the only alternative for an eleven-year-old latchkey kid with a television. |
