MS Songsmith - Beat It

This is the second best one, after Crazy Train. The instrumental sounds like a really really bad Stevie Wonder track.
You act like you've never seen a severed human head on a tortoise before! Haha!
04/24/09, 20:25

Seriously, this is one of my favorite TV shows of all time.

This was probably the third best thing on the episode, after the mariachi band and "Don't bullshit a bullshitter."
Negro y Azul (el Narcocorrido del Heisenberg)

My jaw pretty much was in my lap for the entire duration of this sequence. It's one of the coolest things I've ever fucking seen on TV.
Galvatron Goes to Therapy.
04/22/09, 22:06

That's the thing - yeah, these shows were meant to sell plastic dolls to eight year olds, but the writers were clearly having a great time with it.
Original 1989 MST3K promo.
04/22/09, 21:47

Yeah, see, I saw the entire first season as a kid, and then we moved to BFE and didn't have cable, so I had to rely on getting people to tape it for me and I heard there was this new guy and they got rid of Dr. Earhardt and it was WEIRD and DIFFERENT and you know how that drill goes.

AND THEN HE DIED.
Autotune Martin Luther King, Jr.

Brother Martin had soul, y'all.
Galvatron Goes to Therapy.

You will note that there was a standing rule against saying anything like "die" or "death" or "kill" or "murder" on 80s kids shows. It is particularly glaringly obvious here.
Original 1989 MST3K promo.

Aw, I liked him. Plus, I think he was legitimately about 18-19 years old at the time, so give him some slack.
1989 San Francisco Earthquake - Marina District

"HEY MARINA!"

"Huh?"
Original 1989 MST3K promo.
04/22/09, 15:41

Yes, I know it was on KTMA before this. This was the first cable promo. Shut up.

(I was ten, and was flipping channels one saturday, and caught the ass end of Women of the Prehistoric Planet. My brain was forever broken, because these guys were doing the exact same shit I got in trouble for doing in school, except they were good at it and they were apparently making money with it.)
MST3K - Tom Servo gets a new head

Seeing this clip, then seeing the inevitable Rifftrax ads above it make me really uncomfortable - Mike Nelson has not aged particularly well.
Autotune The News #2

Katie Couric has some serious skill.
Zero Punctuation - Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X.

Best end-credits sequence in recent memory. BUDDA BUDDA BUDDA BOOSH AAAAGH
Renegade

No way, man. this song is fucking badass.

At the very least, it's a karaoke classic.
A Family Underground trailer

On the one hand, yeah - these guys have made a shitload of money playing to what could charitably be called the lowest common denominator of suburbia. The entire "juggalo" thing is one of the most brilliant marketing concepts I've ever seen - apparently when you go to this thing, you trade your cash in at the gate for Juggalo Buxx (or whatever) that you use all weekend to buy concessions, merchandise, etc. And whatever's left over in your pocket? Oh dude, that's a souvenir all its own!

On the other hand, like I said, these kids are the bottom of the cultural barrel. If this makes them feel loved and wanted and respected despite all of society's evidence to the contrary, more power to them. Everyone needs somewhere to be, you know?
Matt Lauer: Wah-wah-wee-wah!
04/21/09, 06:17

Oh, Matt Lauer. You really are the thinking man's Anderson Cooper.
CatRoll'd?
