Seriously, this is one of my favorite TV shows of all time.

Yeah, see, I saw the entire first season as a kid, and then we moved to BFE and didn't have cable, so I had to rely on getting people to tape it for me and I heard there was this new guy and they got rid of Dr. Earhardt and it was WEIRD and DIFFERENT and you know how that drill goes. |

On the one hand, yeah - these guys have made a shitload of money playing to what could charitably be called the lowest common denominator of suburbia. The entire "juggalo" thing is one of the most brilliant marketing concepts I've ever seen - apparently when you go to this thing, you trade your cash in at the gate for Juggalo Buxx (or whatever) that you use all weekend to buy concessions, merchandise, etc. And whatever's left over in your pocket? Oh dude, that's a souvenir all its own!
On the other hand, like I said, these kids are the bottom of the cultural barrel. If this makes them feel loved and wanted and respected despite all of society's evidence to the contrary, more power to them. Everyone needs somewhere to be, you know? |
