Brilliant. Both as a statement on how easy it is to fuck up many of the everyday elements that keep our society running and as a generally good prank.
That being said, you could seriously institute some minor chaos if you fucked with these signs right. Instead of ZOMBIES LAWL you change it to "ROAD CLOSED AHEAD. EXIT IMMEDIATELY, TAKE SURFACE STREETS" and you've just created a motherfucker of a traffic jam. Much less if you put something people were actually SCARED of on there. A chemical spill or what-have-you. |

I'm just stabbing in the dark here, but I would imagine that whoever makes the chips with noises probably have a "stock library" of noise chips. Chickens clucking, machine guns, sirens, etc. etc. etc. If you want those, they're relatively cheap. If you want a custom chip, it's more, 'cause they have to record a new one, however they do that. |

followup/beard: the two biggest changes/developments in comics in the last 15-20 years are the change from writing single-issue contained stories to writing for full-length trade paperbacks (most of the people I know who read comics pick up the trades) and the rise of webcomics, which are essentially the new vanity press. For every Penny Arcade or Achewood or other successful comic, there are a hundred (thousand) Keenspot abortions that produced four strips and then were abandoned. |
