Cars was made entirely to sell dozens upon dozens of virtually identical but just-so-slightly repainted toy vehicles. I don't know who in the fuck is buying them, but there are pegs and pegs full of Cars merch in the Hot Wheels aisle at any toy store, and they seem to move at a reasonable clip.
The only person I've ever seen buying Cars toys was a reasonably attractive woman in her mid-late 20's. I don't know whether she was a fan of the movie or had a kid or what, but she seemed very very excited about it, to the point where she pointed out in the checkout lane that she'd been looking for... some dude or the other for a while now. |
