Well, I think he severely underplays the important role that social networks play in success - i.e., your level of Knowing A Guy That Knows A Guy; but I wouldn't completely disagree with that statement.
On the other hand, attempting to define as nebulous a concept as "success" in such a way that it can be mathematically calculated with some sort of "risk + effort + motivation / (strength of weak ties) ^luck" formula is goddamned ludicrous in the first place.
Then again, this is Fox, so I'm sure they aren't above resorting to pseudoscientific hokum to get their point across (i.e. HURRAH FOR LAISSEZ-FAIRE!). |
