At my college back when I did theatre there was this Hunter Thompson-esque director who was obsessed with the theories of Antonin Artaud who did a production of MacB**h based on the "Theatre of Cruelty" trappings...now there was some shit.
This was a guy who once made it a prerequisite for one of his plays that anyone who wanted to be in it had to skydive from a plane.
Everybody involved in the combat sequences was trained to fight with real halberds and several people were injured during the production. It was rumored that the stage manager (who was pissed off at the director at the time) rigged part of the scaffolding to break, causing at least two of said injuries. |
