America was Korean Territory

20-30 years, that is
America was Korean Territory
11/07/11, 23:31

I saw thing originally on a mockup site about warning English teachers (criminal foreigners) to remember their lower place in Korean society. I though originally that the video was made for the site, since it was a fairly well made and elaborate site, but then I learned later that there was a small, fringe movement of folks that produced this and other videos (like this one proving Jesus' Korean heritage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARntHwTONN0).

There are a few explanations for this. The split in the country could have created an almost insatiable desire for national identity, especially after many decades of Japanese occupation. This can be magnified over the next generation by inundating kids with nationalistic sentiment and their parents generally uneducated opinions on foreigners over 20-30 and you get people like this, so slaveringly nationalistic that they can't even accept real history without inserting their own country into it.

Thank god no one in America has ever done anything like that ever.
Phoenix Wright, the movie

Or when Maya'a stomach bursts open showering ramen noodles everywhere or when that orb comes out of Phoenix's chest and blows up the planet.
Goodbye POE News
11/06/11, 22:02

I'm really hoping that POETV survives this culling. The chances of finding this many funny people on the internet acting mostly civil is not bloody likely.
Driver in Elmo Shirt Goes Ballistic on KRON 4 Reporter

You can bash the guy, you can march him of a damn cliff if you like, but leave photojournalism out of it. That is a legit degree, not some Philosophy equivalent. Trust me, I'm an English major, I can only WISH I took Photojournalism.
Ask a Mortician, Episode One

I fully endorse this premise, but Jesus, stop trying so hard on the humor.

Merlin the wizard and the History Channel logo. The capture screen looks like the perfect subway/bus stop ad.
John DiMaggio as The Joker
10/28/11, 10:26

I guess, in a nutshell, this is the "wrong-sounding Muppets" argument.
John DiMaggio as The Joker
10/28/11, 10:24

The problem with this is like the polar opposite of the problem with type-casting. The joker in TAS with Hamill was so iconic that it's hard to accept even good replacements. I have trouble looking at this objectively due to hamils performance, but I also know that Hamill said that Arkham City is the last time he'll play the joker and as such, this IS the best replacemnt I've heard yet. Cognitivedissonance has a damn good point is saying that this is closer to the comics, and I'd say that it's the closest to the Heath Ledger Joker that a cartoon has come (more serial killer and real world villain, less Cesar Romano and goofy antics).

Then again, I liked the Joker that would have the option of using a hatchet or a sausage as a weapon and choose the sausage, so who knows. Hamill is gonna die eventually, as will DiMagio and you, so in the end, what can really be done about it?
Cena_mark's shameful confession.

No shit, Evilhomer. Roachbud disappeared around the same time you went to Iraq (at least I recall you saying that you were shipping off, I hope I'm not confusing you.) Hell, he was only here for a few months, really, but made such an impression that he is my favorite of our trolls (aside from theFlu, mostly because I fell for his trolling so badly in my younger, more innocent days). Then again, maybe Ol' Roach decided to exit at the top of his game. I mean, cena has been here for years now and nobady likes him anymore, even though there was a time we all looked forward to his idiot ramblings.
Giancarlo Esposito: Actor
10/28/11, 09:37

Makes me a little sad, looking at his IMDB shows that he was in Monkeybone, not to mention The Box was...not terrific. Then again, Breaking Bad is a decent rebound. I hope to see him a little more now outside of TV shows, or in more good shows at least.

Salvador Dali: A Soft Self Portrait

Last time I commented on a Dali video people jumped all over me, so for this one I'll just say: hmmmm.

29 year old woman, born deaf, hearing her voice for the first time.
09/30/11, 05:22

Because deaf people can still learn sounds through written words, they can understand enough to speak themselves, even if it's not very clear. Deaf people are not learning disabled.

Plus, I'm gonna guess that this is perhaps the end of a long speak therapy regimen as well as not being the first actual moments of hearing as tehy likely experimented or at least fiddled with her device/operation/what have you to give her hearing to her.
Stephen Fry hangs out with wise guys
09/26/11, 06:16

Oh, and baleen, last I saw Tumwater, it was fairly suburban with a tiny town center around Cattan's/Taco Bell, but mostly is still fairly rural.

It's been established for a few years the there is an Olympia/Evergreen collective here at PoETV, and I'd say a majority of Washington residents at one time, if not still.
