Shop clerk almost recognizes Kim Deal
12/20/12, 17:40 Probably some doc. Mini documentaries on bands have been popping up everywhere lately. I think folks generally have cameras on them 24/7 now, willingly. |

Hoarders: ShannaAAAAaaaauuuugghhhh
12/20/12, 00:39 Absolutely not. No way. Can't, won't. |

12/20/12, 00:25 Jack Nance just keeps finding dead or dying women. It's like magnetism. |

Life Crisis in Ireland - Pro-life appeal
12/20/12, 00:15 There is never a case where the baby must be aborted to save the life of the mother? Sorry Ireland, but that is one of the most untrue things ever uttered. Not that I expect more from the Irish Catholic church. Shame the good looking ones are always the craziest. |

Life Crisis in Ireland - Pro-life appeal
12/20/12, 00:13 She could have all the babies. |

Life Crisis in Ireland - Pro-life appeal
12/20/12, 00:11 I think he was jokingly referring to the other John Waters. |

Obama calls Marijuana Anonymous
12/19/12, 02:34 That was fairly lame as prank calls go. |

Key & Peele: I'm Retired
12/17/12, 03:55 Exactly right. These are decent jokes, it's just that they beat them to death. Then they often finish with some sort of deus ex machina.
They are half way there, and I think they might get better with time, but yeah, they just go too long per joke. |

This Teacher is Incredibly Awesome
12/16/12, 15:32 Nah, he'll move to Korea or Thailand and get a professorship and die with the kida contentment that survivors from a plane crash have. Occasional pang of survivors guilt, but in the end happier. And for him, that isn't running away, either. He already spent his career helping kids. He earned his rest. |

This Teacher is Incredibly Awesome
12/16/12, 13:57 No Child Left Behind also had the unspoken consequence of ruining all hopeful teachers college careers. Traditionally, you would take your undergrad in your field as you discover what you want, such as mathematics of the sciences, then you would continue on to a masters in teaching (MIT). No child left behind required that in order to get your MIT, you needed to specialize in education no later than your second semester in undergrad, taking almost nothing my the pre-reqs for the next level in either education or child psychology, THEN largely repeat the same scenario in your MIT program, giving little to no time to become an expert in the actual field you would teach. To top that off, if you had already graduated or almost had when the new laws came into effect, you needed to start your entire undergrad over from the beginning.
To make matters even worse, even after your MIT, you had to jump through whatever hoops the state set up, including addition and costly training, certifications and hours logged working for nothing. ALL THAT, just to work in a job that will pay poorly (This guys 70K is a FAR above average salary, even after yearly raises for his whole career) until the day you lose your retirement. And folks still do it, and they are awesome and they can't catch a break. It's why I just went to Korea and Thailand to teach, and only tutor now. I can't afford the time or money required to be a real teacher, thanks to Bush's silent legacy of stupidity. |

The Ramones' jingle for Steel Reserve
12/16/12, 02:31 I used to drink it in my early college days, before I developed taste buds. Shortly before I graduated, I had one for nostalgia's sake. I took a single swig and through up. Literally, just one sip. Never again. |

The Joker's Glass of Water
12/16/12, 01:08 It would need the awkward silence between lines. |

Lexx - the Time Prophet
12/13/12, 20:13 Farscape's best episodes were either totally inside Creighton's head or when the crew was trying to kill each other.
I sorta lost interest by the time they went into that 'dark zone' stuff in the last two seasons (or maybe just the last, I can't remember.) That and it's TV movie ending was fucking awful. |
