Watermelon and Grape soda.
Jazz Jackrabbit
04/26/11, 19:42

Jazz Jackrabbit 2 was actually pretty sweet also.

You take that back Jack, or I'll have MacGyver take it back for you.
Monster Bash

I actually never played this one (it never liked my computer for some reason) but I distinctly remember seeing it demonstrated as part of a looping advertisement on a TV at the local Computer City.

All I can really recall is that the announcer was way too enthusiastic about it.
Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure

PUBLISHED BY APOGEE THIS IS SHAREWARE
Descent

Modern logic would dictate the latter. It has more features.
Darkwolf (DOS 1994)

If you played Crystal Caves, you know what to expect. Secret Agent is a great one to run on dosbox. The game was left unfinished so the "shareware" version is the full version! :P
EYEGARD ON. DUTY.
04/25/11, 20:54

Being watched by Eyegard means you guilty of treason.
Commander Keen - Secret of the Oracle
04/25/11, 20:49

I would regain all my respect for id software if they made a new Commander Keen.
Pickle Wars
04/25/11, 20:46

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I've watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those ... moments will be lost in time, like tears...in rain
Raptor: Call of the Shadows
04/25/11, 20:40

This was the best shump of the 90s.

Also Tyrian the Level is my ringtone :D

Actually, this was the tail end of the shareware era.
This game actually pushed any non-pentium machines pretty hard for its day.

First game I downloaded to my new phone.
Chrysler's commercial about how awful Detroit is.
04/25/11, 00:22

I believe what you are looking for is "showing his roots"
Chrysler's commercial about how awful Detroit is.

You're certainly are someones brown-stain city.
FBI Fred
04/25/11, 00:18

All I remember about this game is that it appeared on one of those "1000 games" compilation CDs that came as part of a 10 pack impulse buy at Computer City.

It always ran waaaay too fast on my 486.
Darkwolf (DOS 1994)
04/25/11, 00:16

Should check out Skyroads. Another great shareware symphony.
Darkwolf (DOS 1994)

As part of shareware games week, I demand the following:
Commander Keen
Captain Comic
Hugo's House of Horrors
Jazz Jackrabbit
Jill of the Jungle
Raptor
Duke Nukem (1&2)
Zone 66
Crystal Caves
Secret Agent

Just listed off my childhood there.
Dark Ages gameplay (DOS, 1991)

PC gaming in the early 90s was awesome.
On one hand, PC developers were falling flat on their faces trying to copy popular console games, and on the other, they were making quantum leaps in 3d graphics, gameplay innovation and distribution mediums.
