Gahan Wilson's The Ultimate Haunted House (longplay)

I read a little National Lampoon (Christmas Vacation was the only reason I was aware of them), but my parents disapproved of The New Yorker, and by the time I was old enough to seek out these things on my own, print was dead.

It's still not much of an excuse, though. I mean, I knew Charles Addams, even though he hadn't appeared in print for decades, and of course there was my Edward Gorey obsession, you'd think somewhere along the lines he and Wilson would intersect. Wikipedia says he was big in the independent comic book scene, too (I went through an underground comix hipster phase after watching Crumb), so fuck me I had ample opportunity, why did he never come up?

Oh well, better late than never I guess. Do you have any recommendations? What's a good book to start with?

Yep, still going, and it's still at the top of it's game! No Simpsons Syndrome for Southpark.

They were a little late to the party with their Psy references, however.

Yeah, bluespike was absolutely despicable. Even the most vehemently pro-harassment trolls abandoned the guy after shit like this; sadly, bluespike was never doxed and dealt great justice, but I'd like to think that this shit will haunt him when he gets older. That the memories will build for him his own psychic prison.

Chris is a fat, stupid, racist, sexist, transvestite manchild. Bluespike is a fully-cognizant teenage boy who spent hundreds of hours pretending to be a girl and listening to a fat, stupid, racist, sexist, transvestite manchild jack off. I'm sorry, kid, but that reveal? You weren't winning.

Pegasi are all over the place, constantly building new cities and exploring new horizons. We don't see many of these settlements, for the same reason we don't see that much of Cloudsdale: because the show takes place on the ground, and three of the six mane ponies cannot fly! But Pegasi frontier towns certainly exist all over Equestria, as evidenced in Hurricane Fluttershy.

But yes, unicorns suck ass. Always gentrifying up the Earth pony neighbourhoods... Do The Right Thing, you dang unicorns!

The living room is too close to the hallway. Now, judging by the apparent angle of the bookcase, I suppose it MIGHT be possible that there's an angled wall back there, in which case you MIGHT be able to fit a triangular closet into that space... but this seems unlikely (how many houses have you seen with such a layout?), and anyway the angle of the closet nearest it's entrance would have to be so acute that the family would have great difficulty accessing anything in the back.

According to Wikipedia, he was a big influence on Gary Larson, which makes it even more puzzling that I've never heard of him.

This is the first I've heard of this guy, but I'm loving Gahan Wilson week so far.

So I guess you're gonna say that Buzz Aldrin wasn't an astronaut because he didn't cook his own burgers from cows he raised himself? Or claim that the research team at Los Alamos didn't exist because the eggheads there weren't spending all their time growing corn and mopping their floors? Don't be ridiculous. Pegasus ponies don't need to grow food. Pegasus ponies already have the most important job - they control the weather. They build rainbows, WITH SCIENCE. They keep Equestria safe from hurricanes and dragons and they're the only ones risking their plots doing humanitarian missions, like Operation Help the Breezies. Every single day, those brave ponies are out there, soaring above the clouds and punching the face of heaven, while Earth ponies are rutting about in the dirt, lurching lazily through their meaningless routines.

And it's not the Pegasus ponies' fault that the lesser races can't walk on clouds. They may live in gated communities, but they are very enlightened and totally empathize with the world below.

Last time I found porn in the woods was 2004ish, abandoned hobo camp, stashed in an old matress next to some Patricia Cornwell novels and an unopened bottle of anti-psychotics.

I don't recall ever needing porn in the woods, though, as my parents were kind of nasty and at any rate we had the internet very early on. Back in middle school, there was talk of a black bag full of Penthouses hidden in a drainage pipe out down the river, but even then I think we were conscious of forest-porn becoming a lost art.

Oooo yeah Appleloosa, I'm real impressed. NOT. Any jackass can steal land from buffalo and build a podunk place like that; hell, Appleloosa ain't even a Wal*Mart town. Meanwhile, the pegasus ponies are building cities on the fucking clouds. CLOUDS! You show me one other species who can even come CLOSE to building cities in the clouds. Not even humans can do that shit, that's how awesome Pegasi are.

And sure, there are some nouveau riche Earth ponies, but that doesn't change the fact that they are, as a whole, a miserable and downtrodden underclass. Unicorns let a few of them trapse around Canterlot for the same reason that fat white music executives let African-American hiphop artists bounce around on television. I guarantee you, behind every millionaire Earth pony, is a billionaire unicorn exploiting the applesauce out of the poor naive Earthie. That's what they do, those greedy hook-horned witches.

Thank Celestia the Pegasi are above all that racist exploitation - they care about the rights of the less fortunate, even though, as the best ponies, they don't have to. Who was it that sided with the noble buffalo against the evil genocidal Earth pony oppressors from Appleloosa? Wasn't it........ Rainbow Dash?!?!

Progress is progress, Steam. A solution needn't fix every single problem within a given system, in order for it to be a better solution than the one we have now. You wouldn't say that clean energy is ridiculous on the grounds that clean energy won't elimiate all forms of industrial pollution, or that affordable healthcare is a fool's errand because making healthcare affordable won't cure cancer, would you?

And I don't see the significance of your last statement. Yes, cryptocurrencies are measured in dollars right now. They can also be measured in Euros, or yen, or renminbi, and dollars can be measured in Bitcoins or Doges, if you're so inclined. One form of currency can be exchanged for another; this is a basic principle common to all currency, not a condemnation of it.

In fact, I'd take this line of reasoning one step further and say, YES! Cryptocurrencies CAN be measured in dollars! This is a good thing, this is a healthy thing, this proves irrefutably that our infant cryptocurrencies do indeed have a measurable value in the marketplace; they are, in fact, currency!

At any rate, regardless of how skeptical you may presently be about the historically inevitable future of money (and you'll come around, I'm sure), the fact remains that doing away with fiat currency would be a serious blow to the power of the 1%, akin to removing their capacity to make bombs. *If* you are the sort of person who's genuinely concerned about the aristocracy, and are interested in sensible, real-world steps that can be taken to encourage "liberté et egalité" (you do seem to be), then you owe it yourself to at least give my proposal serious consideration.

You know, if you guys really wanted to fix this, you could all embrace Dogecoins. Best case scenario, the 1%'s outdated fiat money would be meaningless, and they would no longer be able to cheat their way to the top by printing new money for themselves or inflating their way out of debt.

Worst case scenario, the economy would crash as every one of us who bought into Dogecoins goes broke, knocking the base out of the pyramid and causing a ripple effect that brings the bastards down with us. Trickle-up economics. Either way works.

Dude, now you're trying to argue with THE ELEMENTS OF HARMONY. I think they know what they're doing, seeing as they're like the fundamental building blocks of all magic. You might as well argue with the Laws of Thermodynamics! Haw. Rainbow Dash is the most loyal, accept it.

And I'm not saying the mud ponies don't serve a purpose, it's just that we both know there's a natural order to things. Pegasi are at the top; they are brave and adventurous, constanty pushing boundaries; they are explorers and engineers, and the future belongs to them. Next comes the unicorns. They are creative and magical, but also decadent and weak, slaves to their base emotions. They have the Capability, but lack the Will, to be a true Herrenpferd. Finally comes the Earth, who are physically strong, like the Pegasi, but simple-minded and docile, good for pushing plows and pulling carriages. All castes are valuable, all castes are necessary, and all ponies have their place, whether it's soaring through the clouds, or standing in the background.
