K-1: One of the best fights I've ever seen.
11/04/10, 13:50

Often people watch fights and will do the Monday-morning quarterback thing: "He should have... He definitely shouldn't have... I could've done much better, etc."

I doubt many people would actually think they could do better here.

If you're interested in hearing the heterodox argument on voting: http://www.cnbc.com/id/39970869/

Given the comments, it doesn't seem to be a very popular train of thought.

Yeah, that term has no other overt context than the one you're trying to use, Mr. Local-news-guy.

Anyone care to suppose what posts someone could find horribly offensive about kittens who fall down?

Yes. That was late in the 1800's. Most of us missed that since we weren't alive.

I can guarantee that there's a Russian video site out there somewhere with American doing something like this titled "Americans being American."

A massive line for gasoline, in France.

Thanks, svraz. That's the element that I was missing. Like I alluded to above, actions evaluated outside of their own culture can be confusing.

A factory union striking for better pay makes sense. The strike sets up an environment so that management (who is determining wages, benefits, work practices, etc.) can't make money. It puts pressure on the people who need to be pressured.

This strike, however, is about pension reform which has to do with legislators. Management and the people buying gas have nothing to do with their beef. Legislators have the "little people" buy gas for them and are not affected.

Plus, assuming Sarkozy's idea to push the age of retirement up by two years doesn't pass now, when voters are choosing new lawmakers in the future do you think they'll be more or less likely to vote for the benefit of this union? Punitive tactics usually have a way of making people less inclined to go with you.

It seems like a better approach would be to pressure the lawmakers and pledge the unions to not voting for anyone who supports this pension measure as there's much less "collateral damage." That's why this episode doesn't make sense to me. Well... that or I'm not French so I have no idea as to how French people think.

Yeah! That'll show those legislators and win people to your side... by annoying lots of people who don't make the laws.

There are certain programming practices/auditing techniques that reduce the number of bugs. They take more time and effort to write the code, but the program is more solid so less quality assurance and testing is needed. Of course, programmers are, by nature, lazy and game companies want to ship as fast as possible; the less time you develop something means fewer costs. Fewer costs mean greater profit margins. So, essentially, games will always be as buggy as consumers will tolerate.
