I'm a sound engineer and in my opinion, this is not an authentic recording from the 70s.
For one, the recording media available at that time were mostly magnetic or engraved (as in a vinyl record), and both of them add a distinct quality to the recorded sound when replayed. None of those qualities can be heard here.
As for the sound capturing hardware, e.g. microphones and microphone amplifiers, there would have been some distortion of the voice due to the type of equipment used in live situations.
There's also a severe lack of any audience noise in the recording. If it really is addressed to an audience in a live concert, there would've absolutely been some reactions, coughing or pretty much anything coming from the audience.
As for the voice itself, well, it just be a brilliant impersonator doing it, but it was clearly done fairly recently, and definitely not in the 70s. |
