Wii Sports holds the world's record for most sales of an individual game. It has outsold all the top 12, Xbox 360 games combined, which includes Grand Theft Auto IV, Kinect Adventures, Fable II, the entire Call of Duty series, the entire Halo series and the entire Gears of War series. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_top_selling_video_games#Wii ) Still for total game sales the most successful game systems are the Playstation (PS) and Playstation 2 (PS2) which sold a combined total of 2.472 billion (with a "B") games as of December 31, 2009.
As far as consoles sales are concerned the Saga Saturn "only" sold 9.5 million not too far behind the Master System at 13 million. But to put it in perspective: Gamecube sold 21.74 million, Xbox sold 24 million, Xbox 360 sold 55 million, Playstation Portable sold 70 million, Wii sold 86.01 million, PS sold 102.49 million, DS sold 146.42 million and the current record holder is PS2 at 150 million. The 3DS has sold 3.61 million but it was release in 2011 so it's not doing all that badly so far.

I read an article by a science fiction author where he said fans claim to hate inconsistencies in stories but they actually love them. Like if after a character says he's got 12 dicks but later we find out he's only got one (the author's example, not mine), everyone has fun trying to come up with an explanation for it. With that in mind, in one episode Big-O was shown following, on its own and without anyone inside, a mannequin of Roger. So obviously Big-O has a mind of its own to some degree.
As far as the story taking place in a virtual reality city, The Big-O has a lot of esoteric western philosophy in it. Paradigm City is based on The Parable Of The Cave from Plato's Republic ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parable_of_the_cave ). The guy who escaped and saw the real world is Schwarzwald (German name for The Black Forest), the insane reporter that's bandaged up like a mummy and who's character design is based on the main character from the movie Dark Man. |
