In World of Warcraft, the (good ones) are monarchistic, the (bad ones) are in a perpetual nominal interregnum that amounts to a fascist oligarchy of mutually loathing parties.
King's Quest V: The Ants
03/08/11, 17:09

Whatever you do, don't let the extremely annoying sidekick character that you have to watch slowly animate in EVERY SCREEN die, or else, again, you'll never win the game.
King's Quest VI: The Dance of the Dead

One man: Ub Iwerks.

His fixation on the subject has made it a lasting commodity.
Sacrificing a child to Moloch (from Cabiria, 1914)
03/08/11, 03:37

Not to be confused with either "Nights of Cabiria". Oh no.

Regular Show: Dude Time

The original pilot was basically Clerks: The Animated Series, right down to all the characters working in a convenience store. They were humans, too.

Then somebody at Cartoon Network said "We'll do this, if it was wackier."
Judgement Day Scheduled for May 21st 2011

The problem with your theory that "man has always had end times myths" is that they were never given hard and fast dates until William Miller in the 19th century. The Rapture fixation is almost purely American, both in derivation and current belief. Believers in other countries are downright perplexed about it.
Footage from a 1973 Star Trek convention
03/06/11, 19:59

My mother was a convention going fan almost from the start. She was even ahead of the curve on collecting memorabalia, which didn't even really start until Star Wars, and she had a costume to go along with it.

My dad didn't know about her hobby when they got married, as I was on the way and she wasn't going to squeeze into her outfit until afterwards. Needless to say, it was a source of contention for decades.
Gerald Ford's two assassination attempts
03/06/11, 19:54

To be fair, had somebody COMPETENT tried to kill Gerald Ford, it would've happened. Incompetents trying to assassinate and incompetent is a zero-sum ratio.
Rodney Dangerfield Dancing to Journey in Caddyshack

All those poor suckers in film school, knowing damn well they'll never write or film a better movie no matter how hard they try.
FASA's 1990 Shadowrun Promo Video

Seattle is the dystopic world capitol in Shadowrun's universe.

Byzantine Rite is still within the Catholic communion but is allowed it's owned liturgical privileges and slightly different hierarchy. Also, it's a one way transfer. Catholics are allowed to attend Byzantine services and partake, Byzantines are not allowed to attend Catholic services and partake. If you are a Catholic and want to become a Byzantine, you have to go through whole new catechesis, but if you're a Byzantine and want to become a Catholic, you can laterally transfer.

When I was looking around for churches to convert to, I discovered the similar arrangement with the Baptists, Presbyterians and Methodists, whose baptisms are valid within the Catholic church, but that the Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Unitarians and Pentecostals are not considered valid and would have to be baptized a second time.

I am now just attending an Episcopalian church because they don't seem to care about this shit half as much.

Also, OF COURSE he's a Ukrainian Byzantine.
Trailer for Pumpkinhead
03/05/11, 17:45

This movie's plot is one helluva ride. It operates entirely on 4th grade sleepover scare story logic.
Daily Show: Teachers and Wall Street

I just don't understand the plan, here. Do they really think that by getting rid of unions they'll be making all those nasty ol' Democrats disappear?

If anything, the networks that used to be unions would then become social granges, which they destroyed a century ago, and if the grange movement started up again, capitalism is doomed.

I'd let him molest me. Just sayin'.

The flirtatious looks Stephen gives to both Alan and David are erotic to the extreme. He is LITERALLY Oscar Wilde, and he has to choose between the Welsh, long-haired Bosey and a slightly parakeet shaped, atheist C.S. Lewis.
