Scott Stapp on Obama
10/02/12, 23:29

Fox is desperately eager to get any Democrat they can on to claim they are disappointed and won't vote for him again. They are just as desperate to avoid asking their opinions on Mitt Romney or his policies though, because you can't be disappointed in failure to achieve liberal goals, and then vote for someone who intends to undo that limited progress.

Like with the Hillary voters for McCain in 2008, conservatives are trying to promote as visionaries the people who were actually stupid enough to vote on personality over policy.

"Percentage of homosexuals who've engaged in 3-way sex: 48%"

Bullshit. Did they do their poll at a porn convention?

"Percentage of homosexuals who've engaged in group sex: 24%"

...wait, a three-way doesn't count as group sex? How many do we need exactly?
Ken Ham Responds to Bill Nye 'The Humanist Guy'
09/30/12, 15:03

I've never to this day heard or read someone criticize evolution while being able to give an accurate definition of it.

It's as if half of Americans didn't believe in gravity because "sometimes things go up, like planes and balloons. So gravity, which says all things go down, can't exist!"

The 'humanists teach kids not to think critically' part is the most galling. Because that's Ham's whole MO.

Bill Nye teaching kids to ask teachers and scientists "How do you know?" Because that leads to knowledge.

Ken Ham teaches kids (as his catchphrase) to ask instead "Where you there?" Because he knows the teachers weren't there themselves for past events or big discoveries. It's phrased as an interrogatory but it's not, because the person asking already knows. It's not a question that leads to learning, it's a tactic for dismissing everything someone tells you.

Bill Nye doesn't understand what science is. Here's my completely wrong definition of "observational" and "historical" science that claims everything that happened in the past in unconformable.

Bill Nye isn't a scientist. He's a mechanical engineer. I know I just included that as part of science, but ignore my inconsistencies.

Bill Nye is the one abusing children by telling them things which are different from what I think. Creationists teach children they are special, as in they were specially created to hate others and fear knowledge all their lives in hopes of appeasing an abusive god who would send them to eternal torture.

Bill Nye and secular scientists are all about indoctrination, not teaching kids to think critically, not letting them be exposed to other points of view and... oh dear, my brain appears to be attempting to escape my skull again.
Star Wars - Awkward Awards

About 32 million people died on the Death Star, not just military personnel who had families and loved ones, but cooks, cleaners, doctors, etc. A raucous celebration for bloodshed far greater than the holocaust would be in terrible taste.

Leviathon is a spirit I have battled as well. It was a hard battle but was won. It was about four months or more ago. My wife and I were in McDonalds and were having a conversation with an angel and Leviathon had come up. I told the angel that i wanted to fight this demon and he said I could. On the way back to the hotel I asked the angel if he could bring the demon to a predestinated place and he said yes. I figured that since Leviathon was from the depths of the sea he would be used to the cold water so I filled the tub up with scalding hot water and blessed the water. The angels (there were two now) brought Leviathon bound to the tub and fought with me. We all pulled our swords from our hips and began running this demon through with all my strength and everything I had. I would say it took atleast half an hour or more. We were all spent but the battle was won.

Technically he met the angels in McDonalds and arranged to meet the demon later, so I guess you're right. Fast food places are anti-demon strongholds.

The woman who seriously calls him a demon and shuts the window on him just made me sad. It's kinda funny that 'fishing wire' doesn't occur to them, but at least they are excited and curious, rather dismissing a mystery as 'demons' and being rude.
Homer Simpson tree

I was hoping it was going to be the scene with "Simpson, Homer Simpson. He's the greatest guy in history. From the town of Springfield, he's about to hit a chestnut tree."
Allowing Gay Marriage Is Like...
09/27/12, 16:07

There's just so many arguments against it it's hard to know what to pick.

You mean we shouldn't change what's 'natural' which is mainly reproduction without exclusive relationships? Or what's biblical, like dozens of wives and concubines plundered from the tribe you killed? But not the Romans, Chinese, pagans and others who had gay marriages? Or what we had in the US a little over a century ago, which made forcing a 9 nine year old to marry legal, after which you couldn't be charged with raping her? Or laws from even later which banned interracial marriage? Or marriage as a binding lifelong commitment with no divorce?

Which of the many definitions of marriage that our country, let alone our culture or species, has used even recently which you like to pretend is unchanging and inviolate? If you need help answering, just ask your Republican leaders who've often been married so many times that they should be experts.

Mitt Romney tries to lead a chant
09/26/12, 00:09

While true, the fact that Romney chose to tack hard to the right (possibly more than Santorum would have done since Romney is still struggling to win over the base) is already having consequences. Senate Republicans talked recently about revenue as part of deficit reduction basically because Romney's been making the 'lower taxes on the rich but not the poor' argument and is failing.

And everytime Romney discusses healthcare, it's a comedy of unforced errors. He took credit on Univision for Obamacare and his staff immediately put out a release calling it a catastrophe. He talked about keeping the mandate, but then retracted it by saying that ER's provide all the free healthcare people need. Because while other candidates could have criticized parts of the law, Romney can't say anything good without reminding people he passed the same basic law, and then he has to go to the extreme to convince conservatives he's on their side.

In 2008 the Mexican Supreme Court ordered Wal-Mart to start paying it's workers money, and not company scrip only redeemable at Wal-Mart.

They don't really teach in history class nowadays what it was like when the US had unregulated capitalism. Or the private armies the companies used to keep workers in line and kill them if they thought about collective bargaining. It's not socialism to teach this stuff, it's a counter to the common libertarian delusion taught by the GOP and Ayn Rand.
Mitt Romney tries to lead a chant

From the beginning he's had trouble drawing a crowd. The press stopped talking about it after the primary, but his events are usually either fundraisers with small groups or rallies with numbers in the hundreds, while the President regularly pulls thousands.

It's sad that with so radicalized a base, hundreds of elite donors emptying their coffers, and a weak economy, Mitt's running a campaign so bad it could cost Republicans Congress. And yet he genuinely was the best they had.

This isn't a new or radical Republican position. The "47%" complaint has been made for years by Fox and Congressional Republicans. It just got attention now because the focus is on Romney, he was already perceived as Mr. Moneybags, and he said in a clearly contemptuous way that those people were lazy entitled whiners.

There's another DS clip from late last year where Stewart has a long montage of Republicans and Fox News people decrying any tax increase on the rich as the death of America, but also saying that any tax increase should go on the poor who don't pay any (income) taxes and must be lazy and irresponsible, otherwise they'd be rich.

The technique Rove popularized for the GOP was to simply take your faults, and accuse the other guy of them without shame or regard for facts. The media is so spineless they'll report both sides rather than call you a liar, so voters just think it's a wash. They called Kerry a coward who didn't fight and said Obama wasn't born in America, because both things were true of their own candidates. Now they accuse him of class warfare. Because that's exactly what Mitt is doing, trying to promote the welfare of the rich at the expense of the poor.
