Its only illegal to engage in statutory rape if it results in a baby. Everyone knows that. Sure, they could get around this with a condom, but thankfully those will be outlawed by Proposition 13.

Its a completely wrong answer. A fifth grader could and should be able to provide a better answer than that. Nor could she answer this question in the debate. Nor was she unprepared for this, as the very first controversy that came up was her wondering on camera what a VP does.
At this point anyone still arguing that she's qualified either needs a psychiatric committal, or a dictionary.

Don't you understand? Once she's had an abortion, there is no longer a crime! You can't prosecute rapes unless you have a baby!
Also, we need to stop gay marriage, unless you want oil prices to go up from all those wedding catering trucks.

Both Palin and Rizzo need to watch more Schoolhouse Rock.
Even if she were somehow right: Does she really want to suggest to voters that she'd be in charge of the most complex and contentious institution in our government? Even the fundies have to be reassuring themselves that as VP she'd have no real power.

Bush "let" the spending grow? He was the head of the party in charge of all three branches of government! He personally asked for some of the biggest increases in spending. And he took growth in government powers, particularly executive power, further than anyone wanted it to go, including the framers of the constitution.
The GOP is only for state's rights, balanced budgets, and limited government when they aren't the ones in charge.

I wasn't laughing when I saw this, I was shocked.
Both sketches consist of nothing but the crew ripping into her, while she stands there and smiles at it. It would have been devastating if Palin had any dignity left. I can't imagine who in the McCain campaign thought this was a good idea.
