...not doing a lot to dispel the stereotypes here.

But hey, at least he made a black friend!

I agree actually. The number of houses is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of how out of touch McCain is. And "The fundamentals of our economy are strong" is not a very controversial remark.

Whereas McCain's comments that under Bush we made "great progress economically" or giving advice to people they should be “doing what is necessary — working a second job, skipping a vacation, and managing their budgets — to make their payments on time,” or his advisers comments that our economic problems are mostly "psychological" and a result of "whiners", all seem like better choices.

Oh God, it gets worse. From McCain spokesman Brian Rogers:

"The reality is they have some investment properties and stuff. It's not as if he lives in ten houses. That's just not the case. The reality is they have four that actually could be considered houses they could use."

"This is a guy who lived in one house for five and a half years -- in prison," referring to the prisoner of war camp that McCain was in during the Vietnam War. Rogers called the house story "by far the most personal attack" of the campaign, and said "it comes from a candidate who said he was against this kind of thing."

"In terms of who's an elitist, I think people have made a judgment that John McCain is not an arugula-eating, pointy headed professor-type based on his life story."

Can I break the meme now? Or does that cause seven years bad luck?

Here's the McCain campaign's response:
"Does a guy who made more than $4 million last year, just got back from vacation on a private beach in Hawaii and bought his own million-dollar mansion with the help of a convicted felon really want to get into a debate about houses?"

This is hilarious on several levels:
The first is that McCain said just a few days ago that $5 Million a year is the cutoff for rich, so I guess that makes Obama middle-class.
Secondly, the fact that Obama comes from Hawaii by definition makes him rich and elitist. So basically McCain is attacking Obama for going home and visiting his Grandma.
Third is that McCain just a few days ago did a fundraiser with Ralph Reed.
And finally, Obama's "mansion" is worth less than even the cheapest apartment McCain owns.

Am I missing any other levels of irony and hypocrisy there? Is that enough for now?
Batman: the Brave and the Bold

Venture Brothers flashbacks deserve five, so this does too.

Also yeah, can't get much more awesome than Batman using brass knuckles on a fancy zombie. Unless maybe the zombie had been wearing a top hat.

I don't care what they give as his backstory. Kimura's costume was created when the developer ran out of time with the textures. Which also explains why it looks like Jenny isn't wearing a shirt.

Unfortunately this was lacking in humor or bile.

Michelle and Barack take turns telling us America is a piece of poop
08/20/08, 17:35

Yeah, everyday around you, (hopefully) there's evidence of things to be proud of. Even in the government, believe it or not. Unfortunately that exists side-by-side with the bad, instead of making up for it. Humanitarian efforts and protection of civil liberties don't cancel out torture and corruption, but have to be acknowledged together if we want any chance to keep moving forward.

In order to be proud of our country, we have to see it for what it is, not what we'd rather pretend it is. And in order to make things better, we have to remember that we have done great things to overcome greater challenges in the past.

"So Islam is still in the "kill gays" phase. What do you propose we do? Is it our fault they haven't evolved to modern times yet? If they're to be part of American civilization, do we force them to assimilate, or what?"

Let's play Word Substitution Fun Time!!!

So Billy Buttsex is still in the "gays aren't people and should be locked up, kill the non-believers, white power, the darkies be eatin watermelon" phase. What do you propose we do? Is it our fault he hasn't evolved to modern times yet? If he's to be part of American civilization, do we force him to assimilate, or what?
