The first part by itself pissed me off. Either that kid has a real disability and the reporter's engaging in slander by claiming otherwise, or it's fraud and they should have ended that story by saying 'we forwarded the tapes and interviews to the SSA, here's a tipline number so you can report fraud.'
But of course examining the validity of the claim would have required some nuanced reporting, and not mindless ranting about society and youth over 30 seconds of B-roll with no concern for facts.

I stared laughing straight away, and didn't stop until the end with tears in my eyes:
"Look you honor, there was a 'rape scandal', it can't be denied, but the question is why are well all still making a big deal of it a whole two weeks later? Shouldn't we be moving beyond it and really deal with the issue of 'rape' in society? I mean people get raped all the time. It's a serious problem as I would know. Just leave me and my past rapes out of it.
I mean let's bear in mind this happened a while ago, in a whole different city, and I'm not raping them anymore. Why make such a big deal about things that happened in the past? I said I was sorry, yet for some reason people aren't letting it go.
Besides, what about all those people I raped? Why aren't they on trial here? They were participants in the rapes as well. And why aren't you picking on all those foreigners raping people instead? I mean Chinese foreigners, not Brits like me. Really, this has been wildly overblown. Let's just stop this trial before any sentencing happens, so we can all move on with our lives and start going after all those nasty rapists who aren't me." |

It's also worth pointing out that the consoles had additional goals beyond just game sales.
Sony took massive losses early on to establish Blu-Ray and HDMI, and sell HDTVs, all of which were successful. Microsoft built themselves as a gaming brand from their middling third place last generation and pushed a subscription online system (both successful) while promoting PC/mobile device connectivity and growing in the Asian market (less successful). Nintendo didn't subsidize their console to promote different technologies they'd additionally profit from.
