Obama's Full Speech at White House Correspondents Dinner
05/01/11, 11:21 Every day powerful lobbyists and media manipulators meet with elected officials and each other to engage in undemocratic work without oversight or accountability. Taking that out on a public roasting of the President and media seems counter-productive to me.
And while this doesn't happen every year, Colbert, Sykes and others have used this opportunity to speak truth to power in effective ways not otherwise seen in the media. Seth Myers may not have been as controversial, but he still called the President a disappointment, the media self-involved sycophants, and the Tea Party racist.
I see value in all sides, except the notion this wasn't funny. Did you, or did you not, see Optimus Prime, and an increasingly miserable and sullen Donald Trump? |

Obama's Full Speech at White House Correspondents Dinner
05/01/11, 03:15 My favorite comics are often fueled by anger, even when they have a light tone.
From the way I split my sides laughing, I'm guessing some of that annoyance manifested at the press conference found itself into the writer's room for these jokes.

Obama on Trump
05/01/11, 03:08 He just looks worse as the night continues. When Seth Myers outright calls Trump a joke, he's clearly pissed and miserable. It's the reason why we had to import the word "schadenfreude".

Obama on Trump
05/01/11, 02:16 I don't care how many people complain that he 'helped' Trump by mentioning Celebrity Apprentice. That punchline killed. Mostly because it wasn't really a punchline, just a simple and brutal deflation of Trump's inflated self-importance.

30 hits of acid
04/30/11, 22:34 This is posted by 'satanicinternationalnetwork.com'
If Satan is now about charitably giving food to the homeless and then chilling out by the canal contemplating life, and finally giving advise to be more careful with drugs, then we have to start reevaluating which side is good or evil.

Trump on Taxing China
04/30/11, 21:15 I could not give a rat's ass whether Trump has the ratings and publicity he wants or not. I don't hate or scorn him in any way, I simply DON'T CARE about him in the slightest, and more than I care about Paris Hilton or who wins the next Real World.
I care about the fact that a plurality of Republicans are so simple-mindedly hateful they could actually take this man and what he's saying seriously. And I care that these people have a significant influence on our actual media and public policies and our lives. And I'd rather try and get people to recognize these people are fundamentally irrational, than worry whether Trump has another penny in his pocket.

Trump on Gas Prices
04/30/11, 19:26 He's absolutely right.
OPEC won't have any power over us, and oil prices will plummet once he's elected and scientists find a way to harness the power of his ego for unlimited energy powered only by attention, gold foil, and hairspray.

Trump on Taxing China
04/30/11, 19:21 The entire Trump foreign policy is based on the proposition that people take him as seriously as he takes himself.

Steve Novella on Dr. Oz
04/30/11, 18:51 I'm not kidding about the Creationist insane troll logic by they way. The part that made me rage-quit is at 10:45 -
Dr. Novella is asked his views on acupuncture and says:
'Look, I've studied this in trials extensively, and if there was any measurable positive effect, I would recommend it totally. But there isn't. No studies ever show any. Its basic risk versus benefit. The minor placebo effect is not worth the risk of needle infection or the time and money that could be spent on real treatment.'
Oz: 'There are billions of people who use acupuncture as the basis of ancient Chinese medicine, and I think its dismissive and arrogant of you to say it can't be effective because it doesn't fit into how we think of medicine in the West.'
Dr Novella. 'Actually I didn't dismiss it, or assume it didn't work. I went out and did the science and found empirically that it doesn't work. If it did, I would totally except it.'
Oz: 'Well you're wrong because you won't be able to see that they work, unless you already have the mindset and assumptions that already believe they work.' |

Steve Novella on Dr. Oz
04/30/11, 18:47 Fuck Dr. Oz. This entire debate is framed as "Doctors are rejecting alternative medicine because they are narrow minded" from the beginning, and they chop and splice interviews from actual doctors to change what they actually said to it the narrative.
This quack actually manages to outdo some creationists is his disdainful disregard to logic and facts in order to fit his preordained conclusion.

DC Talk was Amazing
04/30/11, 14:28 I was going mock the near-kiss at 0:16 but then two minutes in, the video turned into unfiltered gay porn.
The scene where the guys grind on each other while ignoring the girls behind them reminds me 'Jackal with a 'Y':

The 2010 Golden Crocoduck Awards
04/30/11, 12:00 God sent bears to kill 42 children.
That's as many as six sevens.
And that's terrible.

Community - Fiddla, Please!
04/30/11, 11:57 I never would have thought I'd receive so much pleasure from watching an actor cry over and over.
Well maybe Dane Cook, but that's a different sort of pleasure for very different reasons.

Jersey Shore gone Wilde
04/29/11, 19:25 Actually I just realized what type of failed-actor theater-majors probably end up working at Playbill, and it made sense. |

Jersey Shore gone Wilde
04/29/11, 19:24 Okay, so the mustachioed gentlemen's delivery won me over. But more important is this:
What the hell is 'Playbill' making satirical Jersey Shore videos for? Does the Boston Philharmonic handbill's produce online videos with classical covers of 'Friday'? Do dog racing forms post clips of Greyhounds snapping at bubbles on reddit? Where does this fit into the business model? |

Portal 2 - Deleted Garfield scene
04/27/11, 11:55 "Unused" for a good reason.
Quick everyone! Pull out your charts so we can figure out which Garfield comic this is and use it to further establish the Portal/Half-life chronology! |

Scientology: Disruption at the Airport
04/18/11, 00:49 Some German official thinks we're crazy. I suggest we go the airport as a mob, pull down our pants, shit in our hands, and throw feces while calling her a Nazi alien soul stealer. That'll show people.
