New Christine O'Donnell Ad: I didn't go to Yale
10/24/10, 13:40

The reason I don't think of them as equivalent is 1) new age left-wing kooks don't make up 30% of the country, unlike fundamentalists, and 2) they tend to be peaceful, inwardly focused and waste their own time and money rather than wanting to take over and impose their beliefs on others. There are certainly exceptions, but even at its height the hippy movement didn't accomplish much.
New Christine O'Donnell Ad: I didn't go to Yale
10/24/10, 13:36

I didn't go to Yale. I lied about going to Oxford but got caught, so now I'm pretending its good not to have qualifications.

I know how tough it is to make and keep a dollar. I mean, the Feds and the SEC are already busting down my door trying to take back those campaign contributions I funneled into personal expenses.

I'm you. In the sense that I'm just as qualified as you. So vote for me on the basis that literally anyone should be considered qualified for elected office. We need to start early to lay the ground for Sarah Palin in '12.
Why Im a Conservative Republican

"If you want to realize your dream, this is the place to come to. I don't think we're better than everyone else. This is America. We are everybody else!"

So he's in favor of open borders, and against nationalism. So that's three reasons he won't be welcomed by the Republican party.

"I think if we're smart enough to earn the money, then we're smart enough to know how to spend it."

I think if you can say that without any irony, you're not smart enough.
Pixar's Day & Night

I'd love to five-star this, but this is just the last minute and a half of a six minute sketch. If someone can replace it with the full version, they'll get my stars, and a pony*

Its not browsers, its flash and pop-up blockers. Chrome and Firefox both ran this on open settings.

So back to the point: some tiny tart's mother pushed her into making "designs" based on popular movie trends. The depressed mother beat her daughter until the six year old remembered to pretend to be a shallow mom, pretending to be a six year old. pretending to follow GQ.

Evil doesn't even begin to describe it.
Louis CK - Hilarious
10/22/10, 01:32

This is an age old complaint: If you are an established comic, don't end on the joke that gets the most applause, end on the joke where you were done with your point. Louis clearly ends when the audience reacts to a joke, not when the story ends, or when they get the message of his shpiel.

My favorite comedians have all done this because ending when the audience demands is good for your career, it's just bad for a story.
Princess and the Frog - Friends on the Other Side
10/21/10, 22:40

I gave it a fair chance, but I was bored as hell. It started off well, and the villain (as is usual) more interesting than the heroes. But most of the film literally treaded water in a swamp killing time and trying to force the leads together without establishing chemistry.

I dunno, I guess since all the animated films I watch nowadays are either Pixar or Miyazaki, I'm spoilt into expecting it to work as movie for adults as well.
Cars 2 - trailer
10/21/10, 22:33

The main difference being that Toy Story was good, if not amazing. Cars wasn't terrible, but it was their first real misfire (if you don't count A Bug's Life).

Make no mistake, if Pixar can turn an movie about a gourmand French rat who makes a stewed vegetable dish into a hit, anthropomorphized Nascar spies should be easy. Which is sort-of the problem. They didn't try hard the first time around, and since it worked, I'm not sure they'll do anything different.

Regardless, its a brief teaser for a movie I'm indifferent about.

The New Republican Feminism = HOT CHICKS!
10/19/10, 23:48

Its always sad how conservatives mock liberals for a Hollywood and media fixation, but desperately cling to any C-Listers that give them a scrap of attention. I've literally seen on Fox News the transition from "How pathetic are Democrats having George Clooney and Angelina Jolie do GOTV. Meanwhile, lets cut to this major conservative convention centered on Dennis Hopper, two country music singers and a failed Baldwin brother."

If you'd rather get foreign policy guidance from Carrie Perjean and Heather Locklear than Hillary Clinton and Madeline Albright, then you shouldn't be allowed near power tools and the medicine cabinet, let alone a political party.
Christine O'Donnell- 'Where In The Constitution Is The Separation Of Church And State?'

I took a lot of effort to leave a comment so stupid as to distract from the video, but you really gave it your all. Well done.

If ever a comment deserved to be modded, its that one.
Don't vote for my opponent! He likes killing puppies in Nazi-style gas chambers!
10/19/10, 15:37

That made me picture a montage of beheadings set to "Push it to the Limit", while Bill Brady beats Bin Ladin in a snowboarding contest to save American hostages. And I laughed. There was some shame, but not much.
George Wood videogame trivia contest?
10/19/10, 13:27

I'm guessing the kid is his nephew, who was provided answers and George scripted it to try and sell it as a real show. That explains why George started to dial the mom (his sister). And why the kid looks quickly offstage right before giving some of the answers.

Then again the only way to explain the ending is either that he's a creepy serial killer who kidnapped a child, or he's a performance artist engaging in some surreal ahead of his time comedy. All seem equally plausible.

1) Since shelters and putting down strays exist under all administrations and parties, this is a truly despicable ad. Don't vote Quinn.

2) Ironically, the main partisan issue involving pets before this was Republicans supporting puppy mills while Democrats tried to stop them.

3) Someone has made a political ad explicitly telling and showing voters that their opponent will kill puppy dogs, and this isn't even the worst ad this week. Political discourse has gone beyond all satire.

Well, not actually in color, 'cause those people listen to Rock And/Or Roll, which we all know leads to Satan. Along with everything else I wasn't raised with as a child.
Highlights From The Nastiest Debate of 2010

Since he's changed his libertarian positions on Medicare, social security, defense spending, civil rights and campaign finance reform to suit the Republican base and establishment, I'm not sure there's much on there that Rand Paul would agree with.
