I think there's more too it than that.

Christian celebrities and motivational speakers almost always talk about mistakes they've made ranging from drugs, sex, atheism and Satanism. And they say this even if it isn't true. Partly at least because part of the fundamental message of Christianity is "you are worse off for your sin, and you will get better through faith". Redemption sounds better when it comes from a darker place. Bristol is a stronger person for sinning and coming to God, than someone who never sinned.

But I don't think that's it either...

This may sound cynical, but I think the appeal of Sarah Palin in the Tea Party conservative movement is more about her flaws than her strengths. Obama was tagged as an elitist, not in spite of his race, poverty and struggles in life, but because of them, or rather because he successfully overcame so much to became an educated, successful man. He is actually elite, in the sense that he's accomplished so much, and that makes him less relatable, and others feel inadequate. Sarah Palin on the other hand makes no pretensions at intelligence, and in fact constantly states how "ordinary Americans" know much better than the experts and educated. Her only success is the sort of fame that most Americans dream of; showbiz popularity without the effort. Her supporters can relate to Sarah, but they don't feel inadequate when compared to her.

This is true even though her last abstinence PSA (linked on the tags) was entirely about how the fact that she's rich and supported means its not hard for her, so its poor people who really need to avoid having babies.

Of course that'll just bother minimum wage TSA employees who have no control over the policy and allow the lobbyists greater chances to sell multimillion dollar groping machines through Chertoff.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for it both as a protest and to try and usher in a fashion style that involves more comfort and freedom of movement. But these decisions long ago stopped being about security or common sense; its all about the money.

Thank you video. I'm sure that without this information, the police could never have connected a body drained of blood, or orifices covered in wax, or pentagrams carved into the skin, or peeled flesh, or genitalia stuffed into the mouth, to any sort of ritualistic activity. In fact they usually get dismissed as bear attacks.

Also listen to him when he's describing Jesus and God. You'd think someone who actually witnessed the most incredible thing in all creation would sound a bit less bored and like he's remembering from a script.

See, I TOLD my parents we should have contacted CNN after my dream about Batman. But noooo. They just had to be skeptics. I could have had a book deal too!

Bristol Palin lectures 'The Situation' on condom use, while he makes her promise to be abstinent until marriage.

Next in the series: Mel Gibson teaches Lil Wayne about race relations, while Mr. Wayne shows how to avoid the police. And Michael Bay instructs Roman Polanski on subtlety in film, while Polanski lectures Bay about the evils of raping underage girls.

Ha! Yes, indeed. That girl may think she is thin and attractive, but I too deem her ugly and fat. She and other women who do not resemble the anime characters in our pornography are insufficiently attractive for our standards, and that is the only reason we do not date them. Let us celebrate this victory over self-confident women with a session of individual masturbation. Tallyho!

Fake accents? Fake?!? That his parents HAPPEN to reside in the colonies does not invalidate his British nature anymore than the fact that his parents are Muggles make him not a wizard. Were he to split his soul into a Horcux, you would find it on the streets of Diagon Alley, at home in the world of the London Underground, bangers and mash, and butterbeer. For as the Sorting Hat said, we are defined by who were choose to be, not by accidents of our birth. Even the prophecy itself was determined by Voldemort's actions, not because Harry was born as the Chosen One. Have you learned nothing from Harry Potter!

Also while you specified "attacks on planes", domestic terrorist attacks on other targets include pretty much all races, and there's no realistic reason why someone who blows up a building or plants pipe bombs won't choose to target a plane if the option is available. The TSA doesn't just exist for Al-Qaeda. The basic rule of counter terrorism to prepare for the upcoming threat, not to simply respond to the last attack.

Short answer: No they haven't. They have been African, Middle-Eastern, Hispanic and Caucasian. That encompasses such a broad spectrum of what people look like, you cannot reasonable eliminate any but a tiny percentage of the population through such profiling.

More importantly, the attackers are united by an ideology, not a racial connection, so there's no point basing it on that characteristic. We've seen in the past that terrorists simply adapt their tactics to the vulnerabilities, and Israel has had to adjust their profiling to include women, children, the elderly, and people of all races for exactly that reason.

Finally, this level of scrutiny is a punishment and suspension of liberty, and enacting it based on race is a fundamental attack on our democratic principles without a corresponding increase in our security. As I mentioned in a prior video, the most common factor in American foreign terrorist attacks is gender, yet for obvious reasons, lawmakers are more interested in discriminating on the darkness of skin.

Daddy I Do Trailer

While the beginning of the trailer was an interesting look into a religious subculture, the last half was mostly heavy-handed pro-sex-ed dialogue that was barely audible over the music. I agree with the message, but poor production values and hearing people repeat what I already know doesn't get me interested.

Claiming that most people who point out the irrational aspects of TSA security theater support racial profiling if foolish, insulting, and wrong. Nobody here has said anything along those lines.

There are tons of good academic papers pointing out explaining how easy it is to get things through security regardless of the procedure used, because it costs hundreds of millions and worldwide enforcement to unreliably stop one method of smuggling on a weapon, but nothing at all for terrorists to shift methods or targets.
Klavan on the culture

What bothers me most is how clumsy and obvious the lies are. Net Neutrality is censorship of conservative pundits? Seriously, why not just say that the liberals sold the moon to North Korea? They know their audience will blindly accept whatever fits into their preconceived narrative and no one in the media will fact-check.

That said I laughed repeatedly at his explanation of how liberals censor by calling Ann Coulter a bigot, labeling people who agree with Joe McCarthy as "McCarthyites" and that in general mocking or disagreeing with conservatives is the same as fascism and censoring speech.

Tea party conservatives explained.

My favorite part is how you can read in any "fair" history book how progressivism, aspirational philosophies and government itself have never accomplished anything in history except slaughter. Fair being defined here as any history book that contains this specific message.
Tea party conservatives explained.
11/13/10, 19:04

This is definitely an important message. A lot of people don't know that the Tea Party is a libertarian, Randian movement that believes people should be free to live their own personal lives free of interference and opposes government programs like Medicare, Social Security and the military. Like all those people at the Tea Party rallies, for instance.
