Pat Condell - No Mosque at Ground Zero

Miskimo: I know.

Al-Qaeda and the extremist fringes of Islam consider moderates a greater enemy than the West. My point was that banning American Muslims near the WTC is like banning a Protestant Church near a Catholic IRA bombing site, because they're both part of "Christian ideology".

Probably could have made that analogy clearer.

I find the idea that "Islam" is an ideology humorous. It's like saying Unitarians, Catholics, Satanists and Adventists share an ideology. Its amazing that they even allow Protestant churches in London, what with those IRA bombings and all. Pat here is not so much painting with broad strokes, as imagining evil demon Nazi Muslims under his bed.

"Any religion that endorses personal violence doesn't have the right to call itself a religion". So none of the major religions exist then? Because even Buddhism doesn't meet that standard.

Too jittery to push a button, not too jittery to make a very nice hat. I need to know more of this man's story.
5 Reasons Why Scott Pilgrim Flopped

This guy's not bad enough to be entertaining, just run-of-the-mill aggravating. There's a million like him in comic book and coffee shops around the world.

For my worthless opinion? (and offering this makes me not much better than this guy, I know): It's not bad, and the action sequences were surprisingly good. But it had script problems that clearly came from doing an adaptation. It's no major sin, but some scenes and characters held back a tight story. The other problem was both leads. Neither Cera not Winstead inspired empathy or interest.

We've Got to Stop the Mosque at Ground Zero

Al Qaeda was really bummed out that they killed 3,000 Americans on 9/11. But if somebody builds a community center a few blocks away (other than the one already there), then they'll finally have won.

Thankfully you can fight them, by purchasing these commemorative coins, this music album, and this right-wing book about how gays and abortion = Islam and 9/11. Real Americans have to keep the dignity of this political and merchandising tool alive, because those fags that actually live in New York and DC can't seem to be bothered.

It starts off with "We've got freedom of religion, I understand, but..."

I'm guessing these people start a lot of arguments with "I'm not a (blank), but...", "I know we have a right to (blank), but...", "I know what I'm advocating it technically the crime of (blank), but..."

Seriously, how is it that the mass detentions, secret surveillance and military imperialism of the Bush Administration is starting to look like the "tolerant" era of the GOP?

I'm so glad this isn't an internet meme. Imagine meme's of Charles Kane riding his sled, or Michael Corleone as a real estate agent.

Charlie in both the books and movie wouldn't make the story what it is, if he wasn't told to fuck off.

The investors were staggered that he managed to create, not a probability machine, but a sentient AI capable of understanding morality and disobeying orders. Their joy at the breakthough quickly turned to terror at Skynet took drastic actions to preserve the secret of the tickets.
Anti-Mosque Mob Turns On Black Union Carpenter
08/23/10, 10:45

True, and most southern tourists were perfectly reasonable and there were plenty of bigots from the big cities. Its not that the south is bad, its just that the very most anachronistic statements, and the very most overweight individuals, invariably had a think southern drawl.

They assume he's Muslim because he's black and wearing a headscarf. Even though he's not, and wearing it as a WTC carpenter. Because they know as much about Islam as they do about black people.

They remind me of the southern tourists we sometimes got in DC. I heard completely serious comments about Jews having horns hidden under yarmulkes, Illuminati symbols on buildings, and every minority they saw in a suit must be there through affirmative action. Plus they wouldn't talk to a woman in authority, and anywhere outside of a tourist spot or Applebees was a "bad neighborhood". In one case, when off work, I asked one of the couples where the time machine was. You know, the one that took them here from the 1850's.

"What is... chemistry?"

YOU CAN ONLY MISPRONOUNCE IT BY READING IT, NOT BY HEARING IT! YOU HAVE RUINED THE JOKE!

Actually when coupled with the later scene of her reading "kiss", this suggests she is the world's smartest cavewomen, able to quickly absorb complex writing systems, new languages, and new scientific concepts.

The news with Russel Eddington

Don't get your hopes up too much. There are some great scenes and characters, but expect about a third of the time to be filled with distracting B-stories featuring annoying characters behaving like idiots. Its worth checking out, but keep in mind its like Lost in that its moments of awesome like this that'll get you through the suck.
Pop Tarts World Opens in Times Square
08/22/10, 14:07

"We were trying to think of a sweet, fun way to do sushi with Pop-tarts".

I don't follow. I mean, its all processed corn syrup so its going to be sweet no matter what. You could soak it in salt and MSG and it'll still be sweet. But how is a generic tube in any way more "fun" or related to "sushi"? Surely crumbled up Pop-tart rice with Fruit roll-up fish on top would have made more sense? And surely there are better ways to display how much you hate sushi, cooking, and children than creating this?
'St. Elsewhere' final episode end credits

even though the scene isn't included here, I'm really just giving stars for the episode spawning this chart, which connects Batman, Fresh Prince, and Battlestar Galactica into one imaginary universe.
