The End of Religious Freedom in America
04/21/10, 10:56

The specific cases that drive the fear behind this video came about from Christians firing gays, Muslims, and non-believers.

I guarantee that if you were to link through similar videos, almost all of them would be themed "We're afraid minority groups will do [x] to us, because we've been told we shouldn't be doing [x] to minorities!"

If they're going to include Chris, then this has to be one of his supers:

E-Trade Baby hates Obama

Baby's got a point. For everyone's consideration, Obama's record of seizing guns since entering office is listed below:
'Pennies' Americans Against Food Taxes TV Ad
04/19/10, 21:46

Soda is incredibly subsidized, but unlike meat, grain or milk, producers are selling it for hundreds of times above cost, not below.

I'd rather get rid of the subsidies than tax it, but damned if this commercials point isn't stupid.

Tea Party Standup

Seriously, the top two "Google News" Entertainment stories right now are:
"Kelsey Grammer to launch Tea Party TV Channel" and
"Kelsey Grammer cross-dressing in Broadway "La Cage aux Folles"

Not having principles can certainly be profitable.

Tax Man Cometh
04/13/10, 20:13

98% of families will be receiving a tax cut under Obama, which includes almost the entire Tea Party, but none of the people they listen to (Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, etc).

Its as if Ronald McDonald was leading PETA members in an angry campaign against Buddhists.

Also make sure that if you show up to court with a copy of Prometheus Bound, know how to pronounce the title.
The Sarah Palin Network
04/11/10, 23:02

You do realize that the previous SNL Palin videos are some of the highest rated on the site?

Sarah Palin has made comments this weak mocking Obama's ability to understand nuclear physics and mocked "science-thingy"s are a way of understanding the world. She's a fish in a barrel in terms of comedy. Yet in five minutes, they could only turn out one or two feeble chuckles.

That snowmobile cop bit was a perfect example of a set-up without a punchline or a point. Plus Tina Fey's a great impressionist, yet had nothing to do but read out oneliners. What a waste.

Man attempts to assassinate Obama, 'but not because he's black or anything'
04/06/10, 21:49

How stupid of absolutely everyone but yourself to think that it was acceptable to post parody or sketch comedy, when that goes against the heart of this website, Break.com. Thanks Chet!

How clever, let me try!

I'd put good money on something just like this happening at least once, if it hasn't already.

Journalists, civilians and children killed on camera, with cold and reckless indifference.

Yeah, real appropriate response.

Marine's Dad Must Pay Phelps Protesters' Fees
04/02/10, 00:11

I'm keeping it simple and ending here to avoid a forum debate rather than video comment, but slander and libel are damn hard to win (at least in this country), and threats and intimidation require some present threat, not just hate speech.

Hate speech is legal in this country unless connected to a threat of violence (rare exceptions). Siding with the Dad would have been a popular and consequence-free act for the Judge, its standing on principle even for unlikable scum that's hard.
Marine's Dad Must Pay Phelps Protesters' Fees
04/01/10, 19:35

No we don't. We don't legally punish people whose speech does damage. We punish them if they clearly knew and intended for their words to cause lawbreaking, and some other rare examples. Words cause physical damage all the time and are protected, let alone emotional damage.

The Phelps clan are well versed in the law and how far they can go, and they aren't swinging at anyone's nose. If we banned words that hurt, or that were unpopular, we'd end up looking more like the Phelps. There are many things wrong with our justice system, but our broad protection for free speech isn't one of them.
Hank Johnson - Guam Troop Deployment
04/01/10, 18:50

Like I figured:
“I wasn’t suggesting that the island of Guam would literally tip over,” said Johnson. “I was using a metaphor to say that with the addition of 8,000 Marines and their dependents – an additional 80,000 people during peak construction to the port on the tiny island with a population of 180,000 – could be a tipping point which would adversely affect the island’s fragile ecosystem and over burden its already overstressed infrastructure.

“Having traveled to Guam last year, I saw firsthand how this beautiful – but vulnerable island – is already overburdened, and I was simply voicing my concerns that the addition of that many people could tip the delicate balance and do harm to Guam.”

Doesn't change the fact that its a funny gaffe though.
