While I'm spamming the replies though, I thought I'd mention that technically margarine is just a mixture of water, oil, and fats made from oil through hydrogenation, so there's no polymerization, therefore it's not any closer to plastic than the oil was in the first place. |

Ok... but it is still just syrupy sugar water. Sure large quantities of sugar are going to stimulate the liver to produce triglycerides. That's what happens if you have a bunch of sugar. I think the issue is not the HFCS, but, assuming that data is correct, the fact that the average American is having 70 pounds of just this one type of sugar every year. If you eat 70 pounds of cake a year, you can't blame the people who make the cake for causing you to be a fatty. |
