I shouldn't be so flip, now that I think about it Obama is the Whole Bigot Package. He has an element of everything an idiot fears:
1) His middle name is HUSSEEEEEEIN. This means he is a secret arab, who is by definition a secret muslim, and muslims are evil, and so are arabs, partially because they are muslim.
2) He mother is white and his father is black, which is UNWHOLESOME. His father isn't even American!!!
3) He's black, and on top of it he has the audacity to be twice as smart as you.
4) He's liberal.
5) He's young and relatively inexperienced.
6) He speaks of religious tolerance, and in fact tolerance in general.
This guy is practically a recipe for irrational fear, I guess that in all my not being a moron I never really saw what an idiocy firebomb he really represents. |

There is this party solidarity thing that people adhere to, but really most people would be terrified of Coulter if she wasn't a complete joke. Oh, small towns are fine.
There's something to meeting a person you know at the store, or at the movies, or whatever. Back in Orange County a little thing like that never happened, you had no hope of 'bumping into' somebody. That's nice.
I can't imagine how it becomes some sort of political issue though of course. I guess I'm one of those bastard half-breeds who's spend about equal time in both sorts of places and is consequently loved by no one. |
