The interesting bit is it's also conservative propaganda, there's a little something to offend everybody. White guy deigns to descend to level of primitives, teaches them his wise ways, saves them with his whiteness, learns Valuable Lessons From Their Savagery. Etc etc. They call that the 'white messiah' myth. So either that or a condemnation of hoo-ha American militarism, or shame on you for cutting down trees. Pick your poison.
I suggest seeing it and trying to willfully ignore any sort of message. It's really gorgeous and a decent action movie, if not for... all the... stuff. |
