In that manner of speaking, yes.
I also suspect that when Cartoon Network Proper were getting wind that cheaply made live-action TV was doing just as good, if not better, than their more expensively produced cartoons, then they started switching to live-action scripted and "unscripted" shows.
Just another note of clarification: I love cartoons. I like drawing and I like cartooning myself. I also love anime, because it was the medium that showed my pre-adolescent mind that cartoons didn't have to be childish funny-animals.
That said, adultswim Saturdays ruined adultswim for me. I have never been more disgusted of anime as I was when I watched all those terrible episodes of Witch Hunter Robin. |

I listen to Christian Talk Radio whenever NPR plays classical music and I have to say the new Hate Crime Legislation is causing so much butt-hurt that I don't ever see any Evangelical denomination going through governmental accreditation, even if Huckabee managed to gain the presidency. |

If anyone wants to know who is responsible for shoving cartoons of the Cartoon Network, it Tim and Eric.
Before Tom Goes to the Mayor, there had never been more than a commercial-break worth of live-action on CN (The Banana Splits may have had skits longer than that, but those where usually used to showcase Toth cartoons). Then one day they have a "behind-the-scenes" episode.
I felt the strangest thing that night it premiered, I knew it was no longer the Cartoon Network but something new entirely.
Of course, I fucking love Tim and Eric and the other live-action adultswim shows it spawned were equally fantastic (Saul of the Molemen, Darkplace, Fat Guy Stuck in Internet, and hopefully Snake and Bacon). |
