its because when people listen to comedy, they ultimately want to hear about things that relate back to themselves.
everyone unconsciously kind of realizes this, and so telling the story of chris chan to a group of people who are unaware of how he related to them just didnt go over well.
also have you ever tried explaining to someone else why chris chan amuses you so?

you sound like an utter asshole. no context outside of experience can make another person understand, and it is an acquired flavor to boot.

oh no my cat is a little asshole.
he isnt different at all. he is aloof when i want affection, he constantly puts his ass right in front of your face when you happen to watch anything thats not him, he scares the shit out of you dragging his fishing sticks up the stairs like the marley ghost at 3 am, and god FORBID i pee with the door closed because then he yowls like i beat him.
pretty much he is the best thing ever.
