I think I know what he means by this, so I'll translate.
Basically, crazy Hellenistic notions like a round earth began to disappear as Christian theologians adopted some Platonic ideas and then later purged them from the West. In the years followed, Europe floundered and people looked for answers from a body that took everything they had and then gave them those answers in Latin.
Finally the humanism and renewed interest in Hellenistic studies that emerged in the Renaissance gave way to Enlightenment ideals and the the formal methods of inquiry we call science. Science hasn't been kind to religions that feature creation myths, and in general only gets trotted out by the hyper-religious to show why *other* religions are false. |

Hmm, I wasn't expecting to be borne out within the next twenty.
Leo mostly knows his stuff but... your banking is definitely not safe when you're on someone's access point. You can still get in the middle of an SSL connection, assuming you have control over the traffic. And if the session cookie is sent unencrypted, someone can just use that to resume your session. And like TSR said, people definitely do the stuff, esp. in coffee shops and airports. Usually just for sport but, not always. |

You're reading it backwards. Their approach to shrinking the government was creating the DHS. Their approach to balancing the budget involved 2 billion in tax cuts and a 700 billion war with Iraq.
So when they say "we don't care about banning gay marriage" I can only assume they are talking about forcing gays to "recant," Inquisition-style. |
