James has a terrible salvia trip
01/17/09, 18:09 Simon, I was talking about long-term psychosis. Obviously psychedelics lead to a short-term break with reality. But I think that for an already stable person, that break ends as soon as the trip ends. For people with preexisting conditions, this may not be the case.
I disagree that it's about "control". I never knew anyone that got in too deep that wasn't looking for escape.
Anyway I'm sure you're a smart guy and I really meant it as a joke. |

God Is Not A Jerk!
01/17/09, 18:04 I love the nervous shaking. But this is well-worn territory.
I'd like to share a parable with you all:
One night a man had a dream that he was walking along the beach with Jesus. In the sky flashed scenes from his life. He noticed that in some of the scenes, there were two sets of footprints in the sand, while in others there was only one.
He asked Jesus, "Jesus, why is it that right over there I see only one pair of footprints?"
To which, Jesus replied: "There was a fucking tsunami, you idiot? Don't you read the news? Oh but I just had to be there with you so the Pats would win. You know what? You were a mistake." Then Jesus capped his ass. |

Jon Stewart becomes the host of The Daily Show.
01/17/09, 02:54 Good luck getting him to just tell the jokes like he is in that video (without following each joke with a comment about the audience or the joke itself).
I think it's a lot smoother they way he does it now but I hadn't realized how much it happens compared to the old days. |

Generation O! - Girls Rule Boys Drool
01/17/09, 02:45 Some insanely bad autotuning at 1:02, either that or she's choking on her own spit.
This has so little value for anybody, and it amazes me that actual money and time went into creating it. |

The Dark Knight video game for 8-bit Nintendo
01/17/09, 02:35 It's not anything-bit, just an animation.
The author claims that he stayed within the restrictions (by cleverly layering sprites) but I doubt that he took into account the RAM limitation of an 8-bit system. NES games had mostly tile-based graphics for a reason. There may also be a size limit on the sprites, I'm not sure.
On the other hand, part of the limitations on the old games were ROM space, the coding tools, and the financial reality of shipping a game. There are NES scene demos that are very impressive and so maybe this could be coded for real, but maybe not. It's not enough to just compare to the actual games since what was feasible is different than what is possible.
Nerdy enough? :) |

Dream A Little Dream of Me (on ukulele)
01/14/09, 17:58 The performance is awesome, which makes up for the intro and the sheer whiteness of it.
You're no Kaki King though, honey. |

James has a terrible salvia trip
01/14/09, 17:31 These are pretty lame by trip standards.
Is it that short trips are youtube friendly? Is next week going to be nitrous oxide week?
Simon, you are being hyperbolic. Drugs often appeal to psychotic people because they reinforce the break with reality. This does not mean that a bad trip makes you psychotic. You don't have to believe that mustachioed police officer who told scary stories to your fifth grade class. |

Jimmy Dean 1-800 Complaint
01/14/09, 16:33 No that's just because serial killers always have three names. Or is that assassins? |

Bacon wrapped hotdogs vs. The Man.
01/14/09, 16:13 You can eat it, you just can't sell it if your "stove" has wheels. |

Bacon wrapped hotdogs vs. The Man.
01/14/09, 16:11 They were poisoned by bacon that someone cooked on the side of the road. |

Sugar Bear - Haunted House
01/14/09, 16:04 I thought same as Bort although the name didn't come to me right away. Probably because that bitch granny cut him off to talk about collector's tins or something. |

The Selfishness Behind Good Deeds
01/14/09, 15:54 The great thing about studying philosophy is for all of these little "gems" you have floating around in your head like turds in a toilet, you teacher can say, that's great, now here's somebody who stated that better than you did, and here's 10 guys who had legitimate a counterpoint, and all of them have been dead for 300 years.
Like the "brain in a jar" idea, his idea is rendered meaningless by a single question:
"so?" |

We Still Run This!
01/12/09, 22:35 I'd be more impressed if they collectively returned to the couch cushions from which they miraculously congealed.
I know the joke is that no matter who loses, we all win, but seeing the world's two shittiest clubs go at each other just makes me mad that I had to be born in this place and time. We have already lost, all of us. |

YouTube is dead.
01/12/09, 22:26 Yeah venomfangx, whoopsie.
I have to say I did have great respect for how TF made that kid read a protracted apology, and then do it again because it wasn't convincing enough. If only all DMCA abusers could be subject to that.
But the video above is garbage and nonsense. And so we see that the best way to win at youtube is to not play the game. |
