Too lazy or too poor. A mom can feed her entire family McDonald's for under $20. That's obviously very tempting to someone who doesn't have much money. As for too busy, drive by an Olive Garden or some other horrible food facsimile on a weekday night and there's usually a wait. While a family spends an hour housing unlimited breadsticks and salad, they can be cooking up one of the thousands of healthy dishes that takes much less time (prep time factored in, cleanup maybe not so much -- but that's why people have kids and dishwashers) and costs much less money. | | inFact: Fast Food Phobia

What an asshole.
The one surefire way to sniff out someone who doesn't know shit about nutrition is see whether or not they look beyond calories when making calls like this. Yes, three Big Macs a day puts you at 1770, which can be too many or too few calories depending on your current size and situation. But it also puts you at 102 grams of fat (and 33 grams of saturated fat -- 165% of your suggested daily value), 3210 milligrams of sodium (135% of daily suggested daily value). It's also only giving you 36% of your daily suggested fiber and embarrassing few vitamins. You're going to need more than ten pieces of shredded lettuce for that. And this coming from a guy who loves Big Macs.
Also, who actually thinks a place like Applebee's or Red Robin is better than McDonald's? Who has ever made that suggestion?
This video in particular reeks of bitter, Libertarian bullshit, with what is a pretty obvious swipe at Spurlock. Though he makes it sound like theaters are crawling with that, that's the only documentary focused on fast food that I can possibly think of. For the record, the actual FOOD at Starbucks is actually fairly healthy. Funny that he picks on the beverages there when he specifically tells you to avoid the beverages at McDonald's.
As for the mysterious and all-encompassing "fruit smoothie", he (not surprisingly) doesn't get into brands or serving sizes or ingredients. Most homemade fruit smoothies will carry more sugar than a Big Mac (because, no fucking shit, they're made with fruit), but have about half as many calories and a fraction of the fat. Plus, you know, some vitamins and shit.
For the record, whenever I need to make weight for something, I replace my usual lunch with a greens smoothie (fruit and veggies) from the local raw foods cafe and can drop three pounds in a week. | | Awkward Zach Galifianakis Interview
