This is far better than what I was expecting, since most clips with titles like this wind up with someone getting sprayed in the face.

Sorry, Sol. I'm going with the more rational concept that people make gods however they want to be, but often with aspects of humanity or stuff we think looks cool (i.e. a falcon head). You'll have to go talk to someone else for whatever it is you're fishing for.

As for "knowing what color" and all that, the Egyptians actually left images of their gods, often with pigmented materials:

Maybe being a sun god automatically gets you a tan.

Wow, Albequerque. I didn't know they had color photography in the 5th Dynasty. And assuming that thousands of years hasn't changed pigmentation one whit, half of those people are still quite darker than ol Ra-dude, here.

Do you think Jesus would've been blonde haired and blue-eyed, too?

And note I just said "pale." Jumping straight to "OMG BLACK!!!" speaks volumes.
update on otherkin and therian types

I think we've just about come full circle to the animism religions/cults we started out with in Africa and the Middle East where people put on masks and they believe they're the gods/beings the masks represent.

Except this is even more stupid, given our scientific advancements, and there's no shamanic groups killing half of the other shamanic groups for heresy. I mean, imagine if every wacky supernatural idea from antiquity had survived. We'd be coast-to-coast temples dedicated to mile-high furries, if nothing else.

That's an awfully pale-skinned Ra. He's not going to do well in the sun without some heavy SPF.
RACISM IS MY RIGHT!
06/28/15, 05:41

Not to mention that acting upon said racism can run afoul of the law, just as someone else acting on bigotry towards him might also be illegal, depending on context (i.e. hiring).

Not to mention after JP, every one of his books was written like it was an inch away from being a screenplay. Take Prey for example. Yeah, he did some research and had Ian Malcolm-like bits at every chapter beginning, but too much of it was formulaic.

To be fair, Ian Malcolm died, too. I think John Hammond also didn't survive the novel.

Fallouts 1, 2 and New Vegas. I don't think F3 gives you a "low INT" track the way the other games did.

"Make your own story." By that standard, ANY game lets you do that. You may have to go and rescue the princess from Bowser, but you crafted a rich narrative in your head about how you did it.

By that I mean it's not much to ask that an RPG have an NPC call you a saint or an asshole for a specific thing you did and have that thing result in some repercussions. There's none of that in Skyrim. The only emotion an NPC shows is an attempt to kill or arrest you if you take a potato.

Fallout 3 was far more on rails than New Vegas. No matter what your story was, you had to find your Dad at some point. You had to work for the Brotherhood of Steel. You had to reclaim the purifier. You had to get the GECK and get captured by the Enclave. The list goes on and on. They at least let you turn on the Brotherhood at the end if you wanted, but by that point it makes little sense to do so.

New Vegas had questlines leading to most major locations, but for example, I "screwed up" the Brotherhood bunker by finding it before meeting House. I went through it and deposed the Elder you're supposed to work with if you want the ending(s) where the Brotherhood cooperate with you and Veronica gets her perks and all that. It was still an interesting questline, but without anyone telling me to go in there for X reason, I just looked for something to do and deposing the dude in charge seemed like fun. Nearly all of the sidequests are like that, where you can just show up and do stuff and if anyone later wants you to go back and handle something, you say "Oh, I already took care of them."

You also could short-circuit other quests. I'd killed Motor-Runner in the fiend vault before finding out I could deliver drugs to him from the Great Khans. I also released some people from a vault without realizing I was screwing the sharecroppers by contaminating their water supply. Whoops.

They've basically incorporated Skyrim's Hearthstone mechanics into F4, but with more control and customization.

There are some people who want a tabletop game on their computers and aren't happy with anything that isn't Fallout 1 or 2, even though those games also had a load of bugs, exploits, and things that didn't make sense.

NMA has a lot of good points about where the Fallout franchise under Bethsoft has made a lot of missteps (mostly regarding lore), but they're seeing the original games through some very rose-tinted pixels.

No, Skyrim does suck, but not in a general way. It's a very pretty game, the world is fun to explore and look at, but it's very, very flawed. The magic system is underpowered for mages, the enchanting system is broken, interaction with NPCs is the same vanilla experience no matter what your actions are, the civil war questline is a carbon copy of itself when you "choose" which side to back, NPCs are nearly all essential and unkillable no matter how much it makes sense that you COULD kill them, etc.

It makes no sense that a meathead warrior who can barely summon a fireball can become Archmage or a legendary thief.

It makes no sense that the Blades would want to still kill Paarthunax after he helps you defeat Alduin and can't be convinced otherwise (because speech-related skills mean next to nothing in this game).

The Civil War questline was also a bad idea because this game was being released for consoles. Having something that at least requires the illusion of hordes of dudes fighting with each other isn't something you can pull off when you can have maybe a dozen mobs in an area at once without causing consoles to melt. The peace talks were a really out-of-the-blue idea to include in the game, and props to Bethesda for doing that. On the other hand, the game allows you to Fus Ro Dah Balgruuf off the walls of his castle while he's giving an inspirational speech during a siege and nobody cares. He continues giving the speech even as he's flying through the air and running back to the castle.

The Thalmor Embassy quest is also broken, because the game doesn't have the robes you're told to get flagged as a disguise, so forget any of those stealth skills you might have wanted to use.

Fallout 3 was flawed, but it at least let you destroy several major areas if you wanted to or occasionally kill named NPCs. Its Karma system was likewise flawed (made better in New Vegas), but it at least made your choices matter somewhat in that it would earn you ire/help from various factions.

Skyrim obviously did something right, as it's still wildly popular, but it's poorly written and has a metric assload of flaws. Maybe it just scratches that "open world, get all the loot, decorate my house" itch people have? I dunno.

At a guess, it's because this is a video capture of a stream that was over a bad connection. Also, if this YT channel didn't record it in the first place, it could have been run through any number of filters, resizing, etc.

I saw the live stream and it was smooth via my ISP.

Statistically, it shouldn't be surprising. I mean, think about all of those "1 out of every 5 people is a [INSERT CRIMINAL ACTIVITY HERE]" stats. This should just be the tip of the iceberg, really.

People are still nostalgic for the old "The Spot" video game from 7up. And I think the Kool-Aid Man had his own game on the Atari 2600.

Haven't you heard about payroll debit cards? They cost less than checks to the employer, and because the low-income scum--I mean, employees, can't afford a bank account with direct deposit, they get these debit cards with their money on them. The bank they get the cards from gets to charge them massive fees just for accessing their money to buy food, gas, or get cash at ATM's, further reducing their actual wages but helping those struggling bankers to keep their third mansions.
