As someone from the Midwest, I find it amusing that someone living in LA is annoyed by people talking nonstop about New York, since LA and New York are most of what the rest of the nation is bombarded with in movies, TV, video games, etc.

Both cities need to lose that whole "we're the center of the universe" thing they wear like a pimp suit.

Of course he believes in a God. He's HERCULES! It's kind of hard to be an atheist when you're Herc, right?

Just kidding. He's a douchecanoe.
Seth MacFarlane's Cavalcade of Cartoon 'Comedy'

This helps showcase MacFarlane's "humor" (good or ill, you decide), but it really demonstrates that you could get the same laughs from the same viewers without the god-awful characters in Family Guy.

I've found some of his shorts and asides pretty amusing as basically animated comic strips, but his idea of what makes for an appealing regular cast just baffles me, even as a parody of families in both real life or in sit coms. They're all just completely unappealing on almost every level.

Then sci-fi probably isn't for you. If you're going to have robots and weird sciencey stuff, there's usually the need for some suspension of disbelief.

The reboot of "Star Trek" doesn't have that (it's basically an homage to the original series) and is more space-fantasy, so there's that. But if you want to give the audience a chance to actually think this COULD be the future, it needs a connection to our present, or it doesn't wash.

That said, the dystopia I could do without is the current crop of Young Adult "Hunger Games"-style dystopia where everything sucks because, like, the world is all crappy and you're a teenager and nobody, like, "gets you." But hey, you're still young and pretty and twoo wuvv is waiting for you right behind the radioactive ruins and the evil armies that are attacking your wuvver because you're both too young and pretty and unique snowflakes (pretty ones, mind you) for the old people who are in charge to endure. They're just like, all jealous and ugly and stuff.

Blame reality. That whole bright 'n' shiny new future doesn't look all that bright or attainable by most people anymore.

I find it really telling/disturbing how many people who'll shout "liberty!" and "don't tread on me!" are agreeing with the retired cop who basically said "do whatever a cop tells you to do, no matter what, and you won't get hurt or killed."

It's nice to see doublethink so large it can be used as a demonstration aid for children, but dayum...

Actually, the whole point of Asimov's three laws was being sick and tired of the lack of creativity in making either robots as kill-droids or (more commonly) as Frankenstein Monsters that always rose up to destroy their creators.

And he did have a story where after positronic robots were smeared enough in public that US Robotics went to creating things a lot more like the drones we have today for consumer use, to try and gradually bring people on board with having robots again. We're also a LONG way away from having purely autonomous robots, let alone ones that have synthetic versions of our own brains.

It's also worth noting that his stories rarely had wars going on where robots were present anyway, and space combat didn't require robots to be in charge of the weapons. In fact, it's kind of telling that you assume robots with three laws on board could kill someone.

Your wife was named Kettle Chips? And you really should let doctors cover deliveries; it's not like using a vending machine, you know.

So let's rip off Asimov and Blade Runner while making a prequel to the Matrix.

Okay, why not?
Fallout Equestria: Pre-Alpha Gameplay

I do think they're stretching the definition of "mod," but they do acknowledge where the assets come from:

"Fallout 3 models Bethesda."

They're also not charging anything for this, so I don't think Bethesda would care. If anyone kills it, it'll be Hasbro. They've started trying to own as much of the MLP sub-culture and its derivatives for quite a while now. I don't think they realized where their 20-minute toy commercial series was going to go.

I think it's safe to say everything in this has been replaced with magic, which is fair, since this is post-apoc where radiation itself behaves like magic.

Fox news reenacts the alleged Michael Brown robbery.

It's not even certain that a crime was committed. A longer version of the security footage makes it look like Brown paid for his pack of Rellos.

If I were Fox, I'd be more worried about defamation or libel lawsuits.

I like the fact this exists. It means ponies invented nukes and then used them on each other.

It's been a while since I've been on the Nexus, but they had Pony-humanoid mods as a playable race a long time ago. Not sure which character model is more disturbing.

I never got the impression that Fontaine was pro-anything other than pro-Fontaine. He wanted to become the ubermensch in the end, not share the Adam with everyone else.

I don't claim to know what the author's original intent was, but it seemed to me to be more of a note of how a libertarian society can't work when there are limited resources that can be monopolized along with a need for people to, as was stated in the game, "clean the toilets."

As far as atheists having problems with the Left Behind games, I don't recall much outcry beyond the fact that a Christian game had the Christian path to victory involve some stridently un-Christian activities. A quick Google search shows me more rancor over the game from other religious groups, including the Christian sects deemed "evil" or ripe for conversion by the game (or at least, worthy of smiting by the Tribulation Forces).

Not to mention it just plain stank as a video game:

However, it was still a game with problems.

Racism would be a great subject to tackle, but other than presenting it with gorgeous graphics, it didn't really say much about it. The game never really did explain why everyone was insta-hostile to you, either, unless the message is "racists are pretty much tweakers on PCP."
