So someone made a 23 minute long battle sequence between Star Fleet and the Cylon Armada

Much like how AMVs made searching for some songs more difficult, it's stuff like this that makes finding less-recent sci-fi movie clips damn near impossible.

Besides, finding only one sci-fi show vs. another is pretty impressive. Usually it's something like Star Trek vs. Star Wars with a last-minute save from Stargate and Babylon-5 with a shot of the Serenity tossed in because Joss Whedon.

CGI would at least give you more variety. I'm impressed with the craftsmanship, but the decision to make every transformation be:

BOX MOVES!
NOW IT MOVES BACK TO WHERE IT WAS!
CUT SO WE CAN PUT IN A DIFFERENT BOX!
BOX MOVES AGAIN!
NOW IT MOVES BACK AGAIN IN REVERSE! AGAIN!

Practical effects can be just as distracting. In both cases, a little imagination and creativity is needed. For example, the facehugger scuttling towards Ripley and Newt in Aliens is still amazingly realistic, and it's basically rubber over a weighted axle connected to the legs with the whole mess held up by wires.
New North Korean Propaganda video
03/25/13, 23:53

North Korea could deal a major blow to Hollywood by collapsing. They're the last safe nation to cast as a villain that nobody of any consequence will write letters in support of.

Funny you should say that. I recently ran across this homebrew RPG about that very topic:

Creating a character based on an animation mistake as popularized by the internet was probably one of the biggest free marketing coup Hasbro could have wished for.

It'll be interesting if they try to force a similar outcome with some future show/toy commercial. I'm sure the backlash would be fun to watch.
Simcity guide to helping friends
03/25/13, 20:08

But yeah, the Sim AI is such garbage that I think they could easily be sued for false advertising as they don't in any way behave the way they were advertised to. That is, each individual Sim doesn't have a life it follows or any kind of decision making beyond "where's the nearest job today?" followed by "where's the nearest empty house?"

It kind of is, but only for those who love either fixing or poking holes in corporate-sequel video games.

SolRo: How cynical of you! Just because EA recently bought Big Fish games to try and capture the Farmville gamer right after that kind of thing has become glutted and annoying to a lot of players...

I'm guessing this is made possible thanks to the amazingly flawed and laughably poor attempt at draconian user control in the game:

I don't expect these douchenozzles to stop trying to make games earn money forever, but I hope someone's always able to mod them into playable games.
Smart Guy - Strangers On The Net

Yeah, this was the WB's attempt to cash in on its "urban" efforts, which really went nowhere. I think they were using the old "Webster" show as their template. The guy who came up with this dreck also wrote for some god-awful Disney sitcoms and "Sliver Spoons," so there you go.
Doggie Boogie Trailer

I'm guessing the people responsible saw "Best in Show" and "Hairspray" in the same week and thought they had a winner on their hands.

It's got a 2.2 rating at IMDB currently.

I just googled that very phrase and as near as I can tell, you're the first to use it. I wondered if you could elaborate how her ass resembles either the mythological (scaly, serpent-like) dragon or the ones seen in parades (the ass-end of which is usually a dude holding cloth up with a stick).
Guy caught stealing bike, no one helps

Employees are told to not resist/touch people because of liability and the fact that insurance covers theft. A friend of mine who worked at Old Navy said their policy was basically to let people walk out of the store with whatever they stole.

Now, this lead to some amusing posts on their social media from barely-literates going on about how Old Navy was "full of haters" because they wouldn't accept returns without a receipt.

Normal citizens do nothing because they fear getting sued, injured, acting on misjudgements, or all three.
