Someone's roommate who enjoys pretending to give birth

Tell me this was rehearsal for some performance art class or... well, anything other than "this is my thing and I do it."
How To Have Sex With A Girl Without Any Chance Of Last Minute Resistance
06/16/13, 11:04

Such a handy short film. I think we should rename it "Exhibit A for the prosecution."

Has any rapist tried to use the "I was only following the PUA instructions, it's not rape if you follow a pattern" defense or something similar? It seems like it's only a matter of time before it happens.
Superman: Requiem (full movie)

"Why's the general not wearing regulation pants?"
"Dude, you ever seen the way the top brass acts on the weekends? We're lucky he's wearing pants at all."

Anyway, this is still miles better than most of the syndicated Superboy TV show.

So many fetishes in one video. This thing must still be bringing in cash to somebody.

I don't like this reboot of Galactica 1980.
Man of Steel: You're Weak
06/15/13, 21:50

One episode, Superman was brainwashed and became Darkseid's herald, basically. There was also a Kingdom-Come-ish episode where we got an alternate universe where Lois had died and Superman teamed up with Lex Luthor to create a dystopian perfect society.

Did you really watch this show?
Man of Steel: You're Weak

Ugh, not another Lex Luthor = real estate con artist. We've had Hackman and Kevin Spacey both do that schtick. If they bring Lex Back, he should be like an evil Tony Stark, a genius who's already rich and not a source of comic relief.

But this movie is yet again another origin film. Unless it's the first big-budget outing for a superhero or they haven't been in theaters in over 20 years, we don't need to hear how they became who they are yet a-fucking-gain. Reference it in the movie, maybe even give out a free comic if the suits are really concerned, but nobody needs to know Bruce Wayne's parents got shot, Peter Parker got bitten by a radioactive spider, or that Superman landed in Kansas in a rocket.

I bet it's part of the reason it's up there. From what I hear the general consensus is "fun Superman movie, but not $250 million fun Superman movie."
Constitutional Monarchy Needed for 21st Century Terrorism (Crazy Gail)

"Gail explains the need for a Constitutional Monarchy in the United States to defeat Jesuit terrorism..."

I think someone's a Dan Brown fan and probably has a fear of albino monks.

Zombies have become a tool, just like any other flavor of mook. Video game (and movie) makers just want a handy group you can mow down without any ethical qualms because they're not human or are automatically evil.

Gang Stalking: Remote Neural Mapping
06/15/13, 11:39

That's the oddest use of "Nerual Mapping" I've ever seen.

From the broken individual's own video description:

"So when a TI is finally sensitized, brainwashed, and phobic to whatever object they use, the TI will automatically blame and mistake everything they come across with as a gangstalking production. When in reality: it is NOT at all."

It's almost like a tiny bit of his brain realizes he's nuts and is trying to tell the rationalizing part that it really needs to ditch the fantasy and go get help.
Man of Steel: You're Weak

I think Bort sells STAS quite short. Among other things, in one episode, Darkseid murders a recurring character. The one where Lobo shows up is hysterical, and few (if any) cameos from the rest of the DCU are wasted for just "nostalgia."

Perhaps watching them with a less jaundiced eye is called for?
Man of Steel: You're Weak

Why? The live-action Dragonball Z movie was AWESOME!
Man of Steel: You're Weak
06/15/13, 10:52

Actually, that does bring up something about villains in superhero movies: Most of the time, I hate them being killed off, since that means we won't see them again until the eventual reboot. This is really annoying in Batman movies, since (1) it means the Joker (or whoever) can't be a recurring threat and (2) no Arkham asylum.

If these movies do want to make some kind of continuity, killing all of the bad guys just makes stuff more confusing down the road when they're eventually re-used.
Nightbreed full movie

Clive Barker and Dean Koontz often occupy that "had a good core idea for a story but spoiled it by trying to write it" space in my head.

I've never read a Barker story that ever had a tightly-constructed suspenseful or scary plot. They seem to get bogged down in a kind of mushy attempt to describe everyone's feelings or something. It's like he paints every scene with the same brush, highlighting nothing yet giving detail to the unimportant. Or he just gets far too weird (he had a short story about UK villages that would fight each other every year by strapping themselves into giant Wicker Man-style giants, which then animated and started punching each other... but the protagonists' relationship to each other got in the way, rather than being a tool for tension).

With Koontz, it's more because he puts fucking golden retrievers in everything and has everyone launch into tirades about how libertarians are the chosen gods among men and everyone else is a sniveling evil perv.
Man of Steel: You're Weak

It's also a part of the whole "Superman doesn't kill people" mythos.

Myself, I've got no problem with it after exhausting all options and coming to grips with it, Supes offs a super-powered bad guy for "the greater good." But I can also see people getting upset in the same way that they could be pissed off if Batman killed one of his enemies using a handgun.

What's really evil is that one of the campaign's main sponsors is BAE, a defense contractor that relies on prison labor:

Population growth and climate change explained by Hans Rosling
06/14/13, 07:21

Hold on there, Mr. Doomsday. We could still turn it around. All it would take is something like MERS to be the next Spanish Flu, and the resulting population decrease would probably go a long way to arresting our environmental impact. There's also the possibility of a supervolcano wiping out large swaths of humanity. Go look up "the year without a spring" on Wikipedia for more.
