Spontaneous Human Combustion ~ Ever Wondered...How ???

It's amazing how they confuse "prophesied" with "making fun of shit fringe groups think is real."

Because nobody had thought of, nay fantasized about, blowing up the WTC and the Pentagon before 9/11. If Hoover Dam ever gets destroyed, these defectives will boost sales of Superman: The Movie, claiming it warned us of the future crimes of the illuminati or some shit.

I liked this film for the most part. Yeah, the bauble was Disney showing off that it could do computer animation, and John Byner's voice acting for Gurgi was kind of an irritant, but it was made before Disney got really worried about having horrific imagery in their movies.

Have you read the books? The audio books read by Roy Dotrice are also great to listen to.

My only complaints about the show itself are things you really don't notice unless you're a TV/movie geek and/or you expect it to be a 1 to 1 production with the novels. You might notice there are a lot of places that should have had horses (like in the boar hunting scene in season 1) or that the extras in the background either don't know how to "toil" like medieval peasants or they're afraid of breaking the props.

But it's well worth watching. You see lots of boobies if nothing else.

Oh, sure. It's always the black cherry that gets crushed in these movies...

I wonder if Steve Jackson Games gets e-mails or visits from these loons. I also wonder if he's considered printing more cards just to sell to the broken who think it's real.

I'm predicting the PS4 makes the same anti-consumer mistakes as Microsoft and then some. They didn't have backward compatibility with their last console, so why should they have it with this one?

If Steam actually manages to make their console as user-friendly as their Steam platform for PC, then they're going to win out, I think. If they can manage to sell movies/TV shows in the same way (buy them, download them to watch, delete them, download them again later if you want), they should boot all competing platforms out of the media delivery market as well.
Sandy Hook ~ 'I'm Sorry Governor, WHAT DID YOU SAY ???'

The NSA, these people, teabaggers, gun nuts, bankers, the greed-heads on Wall Street, tornadoes, floods and the start of hurricane season...

It's enough to make one wonder what is and isn't going to be on fire in a couple of years. Apocalyptically-minded whackos and the fuel they keep getting for their flavors of crazy seem almost ready to boil over. I just hope it stays off my lawn and means there are some more job vacancies for college grads after the riots die down.

He got baleen to five-star his own video, which is the closest thing we have to a faux pas around here, isn't it?
Bill Maher: Ronald Reagan was the Original Teabagger
06/09/13, 17:15

He wasn't grounded in reality at first. It took a FUCKING TV-MOVIE, "The Day After," to convince Saint Ronnie that nuclear war might not be awesome for America.

Yes, the right wing went bananas when he agreed to talks with the Soviets, and even Limbaugh called the talks with Gorbachev "having a Gorbasm," where you had a good feeling about it but it was all lies. The problems the right had with Reagan were quickly forgotten when they elected his analogue, George Bush II, who behaved just like first-term Reagan (saber-rattling, all or nothing, with us or against us) without the turning point of the second. I don't know what TV movie would've done it for Bush, but he exemplified Reagan's first term for both of his own.

I will say that he wouldn't be accepted if what legislation he passed was somehow seen as being as far as he'd go. I've no doubt that if Reagan were around today and able to run, he'd embrace the Tea Party platform without hesitation, grafting their ideals onto his platform.

Our nation's nursing homes (or whatever is left) will be very interesting-looking places if the internet is any indication.

"Mob" is a term that the video game industry uses interchangeably with "mobile" and "monster" as a catch-all for computer controlled NPCs, usually ones the player can interact with and/or kill. It's not some attempt to annoy you on a personal level.

I still occasionally play Minecraft, and when cats were introduced I just thought "meh, whatever."

Recently I found out they keep creepers away. If I ever start playing again, I'm building walls of cats around everything.

...or you just wanted an excuse to cover people in chocolate syrup.

It's an honorable goal, but not if you're going to put up the pretense of making a film out of a sense of shame.

At least it's nice to see that at least in a few games, men were given "armor" that pretty much left their stuffin's open to attack so their chesticles could be admired.

And was that a Samus cameo? She's looked better.

They leave it out because if they put it in, it'd make the hoo-hah over sex in Mass Effect look like a fight over favorite flavors of ice cream. Fox News would call it "a child murder simulator" and Bethesda execs would have to go take part in congressional hearings, etc.

I don't think gamers would freak, but those who are constantly looking to further their careers via outrage would have a field day.

That said, Fallout 1 and 2 handled it well. If you killed two or more kids (they gave you one freebie, which when you see how combat goes is understandable), you got the "childkiller" perk, and life became very difficult for your character:

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Childkiller

It probably helped that the kids being killed were tiny pixel-figures rather than photorealistic and fully voiced characters.

And fuck Little Lamplight. It made no goddamn sense except that someone watched too many old episodes of Star Trek. Where were new kids coming from? Why can't an adult (or anyone) just blow up the gate with a mini-nuke and get in? How did the Enclave get into Vault 87, unless they went through LL, and if they did, why are the kids still alive?

I loves me some Fallout 3, but Little Lamplight was an idea that needed a lot more work to make sense.
