Not that he's "enough of a robot," but that he's not enough of the Asmovian robot they were shooting for (down to the positronic brain). They just made him a Spock analogue for the most part and didn't ever nail down what their version of the three laws (or four, if you're an Asimov fan) were. They skirted it every so often, but it just kind of sucked that we had an artificial life form whose only real goal was to be more human, which I thought sold the character short.
I mean, they had an episode where he has to decide to murder someone to stop future deaths, and this is a huge moral dilemma for him (supposedly to do with the First Law about not, y'know, killing stuff). Firing photon torpedoes at a ship full of people or not preventing said firing? No problemo.
You can have your monocle back and enjoy your Star Trek robot if you want. |

Your mileage may vary on Spiner, but the writers are the real ones to blame for most of Data's character arc. He wasn't really a very good Asmovian robot, IMHO, but again, I think that was mostly the writers treating him like a macguffin rather than figuring out a more robotic (less like a Vulcan, basically) template to work from. |

From what I can see, this was in '91 and she eventually got a degree in psychology and is working in Boulder, CO as a nurse.
Maybe this was a last grab at celebrity and now she's over it. I dunno. |

That reminds me. One of these "everyone's out to get me" nearly wrecked a train because they thought the engineer was "stalking" them by blowing his horn when she was downtown or on her phone. She decided the best way to confront the engineer was to get drunk and make him stop by parking her car on the train tracks:

I saw this trailer over a year ago when it was going straight to DVD.
As I understand it, not only is this not Pixar, but Dane Cook is replacing the already-recorded voice track for Jon Cryer. I think the only reason they decided to put this in theaters is that Dreamworks is putting out some kind of airplane movie at the same time.
Now that they're making half of their output as sequels to their previous movies, I think their time as one of the more original animation studios isn't going to last much longer. |

I've had this nightmarish thought that computers and computer-like devices are trending towards smaller and more portable things so we won't mind it when most people are living in places so small you'd assume "Telephone" was was written on the top.

I've never seen a full episode, though I've seen clips and even posted a few to the hopper (I still liked one that crossed over between this show and Oblivion, but that's just me).
The show has become a pervasive meme. It's used for forum icons, animated gifs, etc. It's almost impossible to have not gleaned some parts of it by osmosis.
Come to think about it, there are a LOT of cartoon shows I "know" about via this method without actually having watched an entire 22-minute show. Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Ben 10, Clone Wars, etc. |
