My problem with them is they really, REALLY need to tighten up their dialog. It's as if they're pausing for a laugh track to stop or something.

According to the credits, that's "Maestro," though maybe revealing he's Jesus is a twist ending.

Also, I am disappointed in the lack of guitar and constantly raising eyebrows.

I have to admit that I haven't paid much attention to this guy in the past. What's with the coat? Is that his official uniform?

I haven't heard of X-COM 2: Motherfucker. Did they license it to Rockstar?

As I actually had an issue or two of this, I can kind of help.

The owl and the bear are the same woman. She's called snow... something. Snowfox? I dunno. Anyway, she basically transforms into animals.

The clips of the robot are supposed to be of a guy who's missing his legs and is a super-genius. He built a robo-suit and called himself "Box." I think he entered and exited the suit by phasing through it somehow.

There's supposed to be a martial-arts midget (Puck), a guy who turns into bigfoot, an Indian who can pull anything out of this medicine bag he carries, and some guy in a Canada Flag super-suit.

I know it makes no sense, but since they're Canadian, they're lumped in with Wolverine, and that means no matter how ridiculous they are, they'll never go away.

Random clips from not just Wolverine. Lots of Stargate Atlantis in the hizzy, too.

I was kind of hoping he'd kludge together something that hinted at the guy in the Canadian flag outfit. I guess he doesn't have a copy of Poser handy.

I suppose it'll turn out that the Punisher is really a ancient god of war & death.

I think computer equipment that can still function underwater is less believable that most of the stuff in Bioshock.

I love one of the author's comments:

"The verse you are referring to is saying how for all of human history, men and women worked alongside each other and realized they needed each other equally for their own and their children's survival."

HAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Oh, my sides. I'd love to let this guy experience what it was like to be female in most places in the last 200 years, if not 1,000.

Gotta love how the "no actual violence, this is a kiddie show" center of Wolverine's brain kicked in and rather than swiping the owl-lady across the face with his adamantium claws, he threw some dirt in her eyes.

It'd be more fun if the disciples realized it was bullshit and not an actual explanation. I used to work in an office with a Baptist who had a dozen explanations as to where the water for Noah's flood came from and where it went, none of which could possibly be true without making the planet uninhabitable in the first place.

It also begged the question of "If God made this impossible water stuff possible, why bother with the flood in the first place? Why not just kill everyone except Noah and his family in one cosmic murder spree?"

It's pretty much exactly like the people who believe they're being gangstalked. They HAVE to believe they're important, otherwise they have to deal with a lot of uncomfortable questions about their lives.

If Earth isn't the center of everything, then one has to wonder about any all-powerful deities and why they picked an apparent galactic backwater for the most important creation in the universe. If one possesses such childish arrogance, that is.
The Onion's Film Standard: 'Divergent'
04/08/14, 18:51

I've not seen the Hunger Games movies, but the books ARE dark as fuck. It's making poor kids from 4th-world areas of a post-apoc America into reality TV celebrities and then having them murder each other until there's one left. I haven't seen the films, but an 8-year-old girl dies on the end of a spear in the first novel. In fact, gruesome deaths seem just fine for YA books, but no sex. I guess they have the same standards as the CW network. Anyway, there's even some political commentary and a more satisfying ending than most of the teen-apocalypse genre, though it wasn't terribly detailed enough (in that it was another "kill the tyrant and solve every problem by magic" ending).

I've not read "Divergent," but its premise seems to be "make a Hunger Games cash-in by creating a Judge Dredd society based on cliques in high school." Meh.

Quite a few would, I suspect, without attaching "that we know of and can visit first-hand" on the end of the statement.

False flag? You mean they didn't come out and use the g-word?

1:16 - "You can go on some websites about NASA and see they've been taking down stuff that might hint to a geocentric universe."

Then they followed it up with crap about the Earth being "special" and so on and so forth.

Also, Lawrence Krauss, a physicist who shows up in this thing, said it was about geocentrism, that he'd been quote-mined, and to ignore the film:

It's geocentrism.

Metafilter linked to an article about this where Rick DeLano (login name) defended this movie to the hilt with all kinds of cray-cray:

Claiming the actions of those involved in manufacturing anything as "voluntary," as if they were all equals or at least had equal information about what was going on, is laughable in the extreme.

I'm sure the miners digging up rare earth elements in China are happy to be part of Libertopia.

What I find ironic is how these ardent capitalists will point to places like Nazi Germany, Communist Cuba, and Stalinist Russia as the heights of evil.

They skip over what "capitalism" did to those places before everything went all shooty-gulag. You'd think they might actually figure out that if you fuck the people over long enough, not only will they do destructive things, they might install that which they claim to be their worst nightmare.

I also find it funny how rarely they bring up the French Revolution. Odd, that.
