Scott Stapp on Obama

I thought even Creed knew that Creed sucks by now.

Did the segment after this ask the morons from Jars Of Clay what they thought?
Scott Stapp on Obama

Actually, he's changed quite a bit. The drawdown in Iraq, the health care laws are kicking in, and... Well, you could just go here:

http://whatthefuckhasobamadonesofar.com/

You also have to remember he's had a GOP minority in the Senate that's brought filibusters to bear over 400 times thus far, so it's a little hard to get things done without ruling by executive order.

If nothing else, not giving even more tax breaks to the rich is a plus. Mittens wants their tax rate at zero. In the words of Chris Rock, if Obama didn't get everything done you wanted, voting for Romney is like saying "that dude didn't cure cancer, so I'm going to vote for cancer."
White Dwarf (1995) Pilot/Made-forTV Movie
10/03/12, 00:27

I remember this show, and I know I watched the pilot. Beyond that I can only recall that I had hoped it was to do with the European fantasy/gaming magazine of the same name, the magical surgery gloves and how they went on backwards was kind of cool, and the ending involved yelling at the ocean.

I think...

Er, that's "Star Trek VI." I've got Roman Numeral Dyslexia.
Liquid Nitrogen Doesn't Work That Way!

That was my biggest disappointment with Star Trek IV. Sulu so should have shot him for disturbing his beauty sleep.

You didn't think of baseball? Well, if you're British, think of the Queen instead.

See my comment below. The dude(tte) says they're transgender. I'm not sure how the dip fits in, but there you go.

His words, not ours:

"Eff You, YOUTUBE!!!! (& problems in the Dipping Community)"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XovvOROszj0

He says his "method of chewing" is different than others, something about not shredding the tobacco, and other fellow gunk-gummers giving him crap about it.

Oh, by the by, s/he mentions that s/he is transgender, hence the voice.
Sesame Street: Creepy toys, Robots, and Satellites

It's the spine-cracking clockwork that does it for me.

That, and a lot of the faces were from that era where people making things (in theory) for children hadn't worked out the difference between "cute" and "Lovecraftian horror."

Would you let your sister marry a puppet? Hmm? HMMM?!
Animatronics Showreel 2011
10/02/12, 14:06

I've seen good and bad in both. The best is when you can't tell which is which or if it's even going on. There are loads of films where both techniques are used and I didn't even realize the shot had any effects work done.

Other times, it comes down to which just appeals more. I find both puppet-Yoda and CGI-Yoda to be equally fake, but the puppet has a lot more charm. Conversely, I find that it's difficult to beat CGI for machines, robots, etc. I do like the T-800 Endoskeleton models, but if you're going to have a full-body shot of one performing complex actions, animatronics still looks like a store mannequin with stiff joints. The same applies to when they try to use animatronics for large motions that are supposed to appear fluid.

It's also a matter of craft. Using the Star Wars prequels again as a model (just for effects, the plot is toxic), look at the Nemoidian aliens that ran the trade federation. They were animatronic masks which could have used some tweaking from CGI for effect. If they'd rendered some eye-blinks or a few twitches in the mouths, they'd have seemed a lot less like man-sized puppets (which probably means the masks were either made by less experienced hands or done on the cheap). Not that it would have helped the film or anything.

I love this stuff. I like it when movies us a good mix of practical and CGI effects.

And imagine the mall Christmas display this stuff would make. Especially if they kept Charon and the giant scorpions.

Based on the woman's outfit, I'd say this bird is part of an act.

That said, they look like fun pets. Feeding them all that rainbow-colored cereal might get expensive after a while, though.
A Female Mantis Eating A Banana

Because everyone knows that bananas taste like male mantis heads. They don't crunch as much, but the goopy innards are similar.

Tasty, tasty male mantis heads.

Let's see... a white guy manipulating a caricatured black man and using it to rap.

Nope, can't see any ironies, metaphors, or symbolism there.

Otherworld (1985) - Episode 1 (part 1)
10/01/12, 10:23

I vaguely recall the family stole the bad guy's dial-up-access crystal-thing, and that one episode had a fat guy who was jazzed to be a Zone trooper In Training.

Y'see, if you leave out the "T" in "trooper," the first letter in each word spells "zit," which the fat guy said over and over. Because it was funny. To someone, somewhere.
