I love this stuff. I like it when movies us a good mix of practical and CGI effects.
And imagine the mall Christmas display this stuff would make. Especially if they kept Charon and the giant scorpions. |

I vaguely recall the family stole the bad guy's dial-up-access crystal-thing, and that one episode had a fat guy who was jazzed to be a Zone trooper In Training.

I get that feeling from just not immediately going out and buying the newest version of anything.
None of it ever works right out of the box, the fixed version will be better and probably cheaper, and it gives you a cooling off period to see if you really need it or are feeling the effects of the hype machine.
My phone still works just fine, and if it breaks, I can get a working one of the same make/model from eBay for under $100. |

Yeah, it wasn't until I worked in an office with a Mormon that I found out why a lot of them dig sci-fi.
I was unaware that Mormon heaven is you (if you're male) getting to be the god of your own universe with your family as your pantheon of angels/co-gods/whatever.
There's a bit of a paradox if you're a god and your son is a god of his universe, yet is part of your sub-pantheon, while your dad is a god above you, and so on. It's about as loopy as most religious belief, but at least they dream big. |

What's really depressing is that this car chase stuff was seen as mostly a California phenomenon years ago, as the local news stations would always score ratings with it. Even back then, media analysts were starting to get alarmed at what kinds of actual stories these car chases were bumping off the air.
Then O.J.'s low-speed chase happened, the cable news networks went berserk, and now they broadcast this junk on nationwide channels. Even taken as just an event that's somehow 1-to-1 with the importance of what decisions a city council is passing down on sewer taxes, it's not even national news. It's no more worthy of reporting than the stuff that gets shown on COPS. |
