Honey Boo Boo Style
09/18/12, 12:20

The only thing I ever want to see with Honey Boo-Boo in it is the follow-up about fifteen years from now where she's either a walking tramp-stamp meth vacuum with twenty kids or she's all of that as well as the President of the United States.
Saturday Night Live tries to be relevant to the internet
09/17/12, 20:06

I can't remember the cast member (it was a woman) being interviewed, but she said something to the effect of that SNL was always pretty cutthroat between the comedians for getting jokes and characters in. Then all the SNL'ers started making movies, and suddenly it became all about who could get the next potential movie franchise character out in front of the cameras and star in it. Then it just became an exercise in getting out in front of the cameras as much as possible even if you couldn't do impressions or come up with hysterical characters/sketches, because you were angling to becom a known entity which then usually led to at least a B-level movie career.

So with a few rare exceptions, its a boatload of egos trying to score a better gig that are occasionally amusing by accident to whoever still watches it.
Illuminati behind batman shooting (lil wayne)
09/17/12, 19:19

To be completely un-humorous about it, the reason these conspiracy theorists believe the Illuminati or whoever would be so brazen is two fold: 1. If they're not doing it, they probably don't exist, and therefore the subject is insane (which isn't possible, they'll tell you so) and 2. it's what these tiny, broken people would gladly do to their "tormentors" (or just about anyone) if they got the chance. Payback is a bitch, after all.
Vampire Dog - trailer

If you work with Dennis Miller, this is the GOOD ending to the video game of your life.

The bad one has you winding up trying to revive your career via YouTube standup and David Songer writes you an e-mail that admonishes you to get a real job.

I think that was also a part of the book.

If the protagonists had been armed, there wouldn't have been as much concern about all the dinosaurs.

Lugosi High School, a crotch hit, and a fart joke before the first minute of trailer is up?

I need to become a scriptwriter for Hollywood. If they're paying for this kind of crap, I could type them an endless supply of drivel for probably half what they're paying.
PRESIDENT GRADY WARREN 2012
09/16/12, 21:19

Welcome to "Projection 101."

The only people calling him that are, indeed, right wingers. This is done for two reasons. The "easy" one is they want to perpetuate the lie that Obama has a god complex, or at least, that his followers claimed him to be a paragon of some sort. In true Biblical fashion, if one thing is false, all of it is false (i.e. if evolution contradicts scripture, then all science is suspect) and Obama is whatever scornful names are reserved for false prophets.

The other is that for many Republicans, they can't see their presidential candidates as anything other than chosen by a god. It must be so, since god's plan is ineffable and can't be wrong (though this "logic" is never extended to Democrats). Ergo, if Bush was God's candidate for the GOP, then Obama must be the same for the Democrats, because there's no other way for the wingnuts to look at it.
Economic Freedom & Quality of Life

Of course they can do things with it, and often they do. Mostly it's stock market manipulation and the purchasing of lawmakers, but it's not like they're sitting on a huge fortune while living in a two-bedroom ranch in need of paint and a re-roof. If they don't want to do something that'll risk taxation, they call their accountant, who can often rig it to be negligible... to a reasonable human being.

Basically, one of these guys getting upset at any tax they couldn't get out of would be like us being angry that Arby's wasn't running its "5 for $5" promo and we would be forced to buy one of their combo meals for $6.
Hotel Hell Theme Song

While the CGI compositing is amateurish, animating a spider whose body is flush with the floor so it doesn't have to bounce as it walks makes me think they hired someone who couldn't even code a flash game for Newgrounds.

If Gordon Ramsey realized that, I'm sure he'd give the lad a kind pointer or two and encourage him to do better next time, if he feels up to it.

I have to say I do like the implication that a hotel turns into Hotel Hell whenever Ramsey is in the building. Well played.

Given their current evolved state, I'd love to see them cast in a film called "The Daughters of Slenderman."

I don't think they'd have to even use makeup.

One other thing on that 90% figure: That's the tax rate for an amount of money over a certain threshold. Let's say the tax rate is 90% on income over $5 million, but only 60% at $4 million and then 30% at $3 million. You're only paying 90% on $1 million. You're still bloody effing rich, and that's before you devote that 90% million to something that gets a tax break.

Not to mention we're talking dollars when a dollar could buy you a decent meal.

I can only guess that this whole drive on lowering taxes by those with the most money and lowest tax rates is some strange quest to have the highest score when they die.

I mean, they can't possibly spend all the money they have, even if they went Brewster's Millions on it. Without some kind of global catastrophe, they'll never know want or need apart from those they create in their own little brains, like "that one guy has a higher number in his asset column than I do, the prick."

I'm still amazed at the Republican voter who makes less than even the princely sum of $100k per year. They'll never be millionaires, they'll never join the Koch-sucker club, and they're used and discarded just like the trailer park GOP flag-waver for their votes and their tax money.

I guess these right-wingnuts really did turn money into religion.

Give them time. The religious whackos just re-discovered birth control, so I'm sure Life of Brian will be the subject of a congressional hearing sometime around or after the 2012 elections.
The One Percent

And while most of the comments are sympathetic, there are a great many who still think unregulated capitalism with even lower taxes for the rich are a great idea, and that if you don't let the rich pay no tax and do what they want, then it might as well be raining Soviet Communism.

Ba-dum tish.

But you know this isn't from Valve, right? It should've been, and they'll probably adopt it eventually (I think it's on the new Greenlight part of Steam), but this is basically a re-do of the game using Source.

Dammit, Jared Padalecki... why?

At least you got "Supernatural" on your resume to help make up for this.

@FABIO: Exactly. It's mind-boggling when some American Christian will point at violence in the Middle East and proclaim "My religion doesn't do that, religion of peace my ass, etc." all while failing to notice that the cultures and standards of living are wildly different. Not to mention the willful ignorance in the U.S. is largely self-inflicted, whereas in other places it's the standard operating procedure.
