Glasseye, that makes sense to me, although on the other hand a lot of calculations aren't even necessary when you're working with imperial, a lot of that math is built into the system itself, particularly when you're scaling, dealing with measurements that are rationally related to one another, center finding or subdividing a surface. All of that stuff is pretty much instant, virtually math free and the results are always whole units of measurement up to the limits of your instruments' or tools' resolution.
They're both useful for different things. |

Metric is a system that was deliberately developed, rather than a system that evolved from practical application, and it shows. There are so many practical applications of a system of measurement based on division by two as opposed to a system based on multiplication by ten; I never gave it much thought before I got seriously into woodworking, but in practice imperial is almost always more useful than metric.
Try to accurately quarter a centimeter with a standard metric ruler. |

I assume this is more of an RIAA style "we don't have a real case but we know you can't afford to fight us so it will never go to court" intimidation thing. I also don't doubt that he was expecting this and it's part of the plan. Hell, even my high school band tried this but it was before the Internet so the chances of successfully getting sued for naming ourselves after a Little Debbie product were basically zero. |

I don't think that he even does have to change his name, my understanding is that trademarks only apply within the industry the holder operates. The example I always heard back in college was book titles - you could legally title a book "Krispy Kreme" because your book is not a direct competitor with the donut chain.
I could be wrong of course. |

Pf all the things wrong with his thinking here, for some reason the one that really bugs me is if he's really spending 2 hours of commute time every time he showers, maybe he should skip one or two showers and use the extra time to BUILD HIS OWN DAMN SHOWER. It's not hard and it's not very expensive. |

I lived in a place that was like this when my landlords bought it. An old man and his adult son and daughter had lived there, all completely nuts from the sound of it. I didn't find out until I'd been there a year that our bedroom had a 2 foot deep pile of shit in the middle of the floor when they got it, and the room I used for a studio had been literally covered with semen (it was the son's room).
I'm not watching this video though. |
