Sorry for the quality, as far as I can tell this is the only clip of him online, except for another that's just this clip split in half.

It's kind of different, yeah. Same equipment but with samples and bounced out onto VHS with some top secret shitty analog processing in there.

And I watched a shit pile of Twin Peaks before every time I wrote a track.

So if it sounds like that you probably got it.

Basically, on the one side you have purists who are raging about people watering down some ill-defined standard that makes THEIR software's NES emulation* LEGIT but this guy's software POSEUR. On the other hand you have people who download midi files of existing game music, load them into a chiptune player, render them as audio, and then upload it to Youtube as remixes. It's a bit like Deviantart tracing drama, actually.

*As far as I can tell most of the people who are mad about this use Famitracker, and while it's POSSIBLE to play music from that on a real NES if you have a backup unit to put it on RAM cart, I kind of doubt most of them are actually doing that.

I guess if you want to cyberstalk me, the last project was a one-off that takes its name from a short story by the Norwegian author Tor Age Bringsvaerd, and it was loosely conceived as a vaguely dystopian treatment of travel agency promotional video soundtracks. That should be enough to find it on bandcamp/soundcloud if you really want to.

OH shit, I forgot I posted any of that here. I've got some stuff. That soundcloud was renamed and I kind of want to keep it completely dissociated from any other identity I have, but in a couple weeks I'll have the stupid Warhammer/pro golf concept album (in a very loose sense of the word) up and I'll share a link if people want.

Most of the stuff I've done in my life is with bands but the last two years I've mostly been working on learning to build better guitars and just play for fun with some friends.

I could have sworn the 4 track recorded, deliberately bad "punk" song we wrote in 11th grade to troll some kids we knew in Manchester was on my Youtube channel, but it looks like I was wrong.

Yeah, there are a few options for controlling a Gameboy live but nothing I know about for NES other than MIDINES, and it's really underwhelming. I'm glad I traded for one but if I had spent money on it I'd have sold it. To uneliable to use as an instrument, but decent for making loops and stuff if you really want to get your sounds from real hardware. Which I can kind of respect because no matter what anyone says about "oh it's just a few raw oscillators" (which is true) the DO have a pretty distinct sound to them. The pitch bend sounds different in the analog domain, and I think the sample channel sounds a lot different than any software emulation I've heard. Nobody will actually hear the difference in a mix and it doesn't really matter, but there IS a difference.

A lot of the problems in society are a direct result of the people who govern communities being completely detached from the communities they govern.

You would be surprised how many federal representatives don't even really live in the states they represent, much less the districts.
