The benzocaine will wear off soon enough...

Ah, I guess that's why I was confused. And yeah, I went back and listened to the version on the album and noticed the lack of Monie and Latifah...

They played this at the 91 show, with verses from Monie, the Jungle Brothers, and Latifah (I think Dres from Black Sheep filled in for Q-Tip and Phife)...they played "A Roller Skating Jam Named Saturdays"...I was in heaven.

"When."

As my grandfather always used to say when he lamented the news: "Rome didn't fall in a day."

Maybe I'm wrong -- I have a much longer version on vinyl somewhere.

So you're even somewhat trained -- good God, Enjoy, the Armed Forces NEED people who're trained. Give them something in return for that little entry on your high-school transcripts -- join a cause that you obviously believe in -- prove to the rest of the world (and believe me, Mr. 26%, it is the entire rest of the world) that the occupation of Iraq is a noble cause attended to by noble soldiers!

I wish there was a video for the remix of this song, but even this version is amazing amazing amazing. There's no way I can give anything off of De La's first three (maybe even four) albums anything less than five stars.

Seeing them in 1991 (their first NYC headline) was one of the formative experiences in my life. Seriously.

And what exactly do you mean by "the interests of the nation"? How has this war in any way benefitted the nation (and I don't mean the executives who are making money off of the occupation)?

This isn't a rhetorical question; please EXPLAIN how the war benefits the nation and its people.

"Where's the WMD?" is a completely valid question, considering that the justification Bush and Co. pushed down our throats to justify the invasion was that Hussein had WMD that were going to be used against the US soon (and, of course, that Iraq was tied to 9/11). The fact that both of these justifications proved to be false makes it sort of hard to see the merit in the current occupation -- by removing Hussein, the US has started a civil war, opened up the country to Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups who had been kept out or out of power by the Ba'ath Party, and burned through pretty much all of the worldwide respect and gratitude we've had since the end of WWII.

Ditko would probably have refused to work with the Muppets franchise due to their EVIL MULTICULTURAL PUBLIC EDUCATION-ENDORSING tv program "Sesame Street."

Is the right-wing echo chamber so desperate for intelligent discourse that anyone -- even Enjoy -- considers "the Demonrats don't want America to win because they hate America" to be "a point"?

I'd sort of forgotten the level of absurdism that this show had.

GASP!!

The belligerent "I WON'T MOW THE LAWN"ism of this clip is astounding. Agreed, this should either get ten stars or negative-thirty.

No, there isn't anything we can do about the fact that the guy wants to have sex with cartoon dogs -- but the moment he decides to have sex with ACTUAL dogs, there's a ton of stuff that we (society) can do. And what fun prison would be for a guy put in for a perverse sex/abuse crime who ALSO has the added bonus of a regressive childhood fetish!

Rare is the parody so exact that it functions as the thing that it's parodying. The only problem with this video is that it doesn't include the ihorridly-unfunny standup routine intro, which makes the album version EXACTLY like a Luke Campbell track.

Every East Coast hip hop artist worth his salt drops the money for a Premier track here and there -- a pity that the rest of the NASTRADAMUS album was as crappy as it was, but I'm glad dude came back after Jay-Z dissed his terminally-ill mama.
Anti-Abortion Protestors: "Abortion should be illegal, but we dunno what the punishment should be"

Well, it makes the whole "IT'S MURDER!!!" argument seem a bit hollow, doesn't it?

+1 for mentioning Poly's environmentalist stance as demonstrated in her lyrics, +/- 1 for not mentioning her bizarre Hare Krishna solo period in the mid 80s.

And I will agree that she has grown into her face...

I love Pee-Wee Herman, and love the concept of him doing PSAs, but this wasn't much better than "so-so."

Agreed. Husker's one of the bands I most wish I was able to see (but I was born a bit too late, alas)...
