"Inframan" trailer (1975)
06/17/07, 19:20

Of COURSE he thought it was the best thing ever. Children's "awesome receptors" are still fully active in the brain. Unfortunately, as we age, we seem to lose much of our capacity for "HAHAHA AWESOME" reactions.

And many women have completely vestigial awesome receptors.
The Brady Bunch Variety Hour - opening
06/17/07, 14:28

So were they hoping that audiences would prefer a familiar fake family to, say, the Osmonds?
World of Wacraft kid scolded by parents on Ventrilo

The last line had me and my wife fall over laughing.
Bill Bailey - New National Anthem
06/16/07, 13:59

Excellent, EXCELLENT pastiche. I just wish he sang with more of a "ripping off Shirley Bassie" delivery, so we knew it was second-album Portishead...
Boney M - Ma Baker
06/16/07, 12:04

Yeah, I really wish I'd had the money to see this show as well...maybe next time they're in town?
Fear Factory - Replica
06/16/07, 10:33

It was the big single off the album BECAUSE it was the least heavy song. Much as I'da liked to see "Body Hammer" or "New Breed" get mainstream radio play, it was nice to see ANY of their stuff getting airplay on commercial radio (I saw them a bunch in the mid-90s in smallish bar shows, and they were really great guys to me and my twelve-year-old brother).

Also, wasn't there a bunch of ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY-level press about the subject matter of this song ("I found out that I was conceived in a rape, that makes me feel really goddamned awful about everything")?
Guns N' Roses vs. St. Louis
06/16/07, 10:30

Oh, Axl, were you really so naive as to think that a redhead can wear pink? Or that that Public Enemy shirt would defuse the reaction to "One in a Million"?
Will It Blend - Glow Sticks
06/16/07, 10:18

I've actually done this (with a cheaper blender) and painted on walls with the resulting goo. I love me some eerie green glow...
Jefferson Airplane - House at Pooneil Corners
06/15/07, 16:00

It deeply saddens me that this band, in ANY iteration, ended up putting out crap like "We Built This City."

My heart melts at 5:41...
Mike Gravel Campaign Commercial - Rock
06/15/07, 13:22

I'm sure you'll have a chance to vote for him in the General Election...how could he NOT get the nomination?
Secretly filmed Scientology recruitment video

"You can also dive off a bridge or shoot your brains out...or we can make it LOOK like you did it after you write nasty things about us somewhere."

Also: wow, the attacks on psychology and psychiatry are amazing.

Alsoalso: "Watercolorist?" Shut the fuck up, painter.
Conan - Triumph at the Tonys
06/15/07, 11:50

Arena Football Guy and TB Guy had me almost bang my head against my laptop keyboard from laughter...
Al Goldstein for President 2008
06/15/07, 10:45

Oh my lord YES.

Just to hear him at the podium ranting about getting ripped off by Hammacher-Schlemmer. Just to hear him asking every female reporter or head of state "how do you like yer pussy eaten?"
Mike Gravel Campaign Commercial - Fire
06/15/07, 10:43

Okay, so he's presented fire, water and earth as planks in his campaign platform. Will the next commercial feature hurricane footage and 'heart'?

Mike Gravel Campaign Commercial - Rock
06/15/07, 10:41

Is this supposed to mean that he wants to walk away from Iraq? Or is he just trying to cash in on the internet's Andy Goldsworthy love?
Intellivision Keyboard Demonstration Cassette (1979)
06/15/07, 09:14

They sold the keyboard and MASTER COMPOOOOONENT separately? How the hell were you supposed to play the games without a keyboard?

call me friend - kitten and dog video
06/14/07, 14:12

I kinda wish that there had been a little footage filmed later, once the kitten had a face.
Barbarella Vs. the Excessive Machine
06/14/07, 14:11

If I could go back in time, I think that I should like to smoke opium whilst sitting on silk pillows with Saffron and Fourteen, taking turns in the Excessive Machine...
Moore Plays the Blame Game
06/14/07, 11:56

"Those men and women PUT THEMSELVES IN DANGER because they wanted Americans back home to know what was going on in Iraq"

to which the obvious followup question (and I wish Moore had thought of it) would be: "then why didn't they show Americans back home what WAS going on in Iraq?"
White Zombie - Thunderkiss 65
06/14/07, 10:25

Ah, thick chicks in mismatching clothing and monster masks...how I love you.

I fear that I will age to be one of those guys who holds the time of his college years as the ideal. As it is, I'm already sort of a weird nostalgic sucker for 90s art-schoolisms...

(also, I can't hear this song without thinking of two things: the time that I saw WZ play a big-ass ballroom show and my girlfriend and I were knocked fifty feet apart in the crowd by the band playing the first two notes of their set (starting with "Spider Baby"); and the opening-credits footage of ECW's wrestler Raven throwing his arms into a crucifixion pose right as the world "FIIIIIIVE" hit the speakers.)
