Live at Napa State Mental Hospital
06/12/07, 08:07

I've always wondered - did the Cramps volunteer for this gig, or was there a hip nurse who booked them or something?
Ric Flair's post-match interview from the 1992 Royal Rumble
06/11/07, 18:26

Agreed. It's the only Royal Rumble that really serves as its own self-contained narrative, and Heenan is in absolute peak performance. And Flair's pretty close to his absolute best, too.
Ice Cube's St. Ides commercial
06/11/07, 17:43

He recorded two great solo albums after being on one of the all-time most important (in terms of influence) hip hop albums.

Then he made FRIDAY. And it's been steadily downhill from there.
Winky Dink and You: complete episode (1954)
06/11/07, 17:41

"You know, kids, you just won't have as much fun with the Winky Dink show without our overpriced piece of OFFICIAL acetate!"
New Order - Blue Monday
06/11/07, 10:44

I wish that this version was available on one of their albums (or is it?)...

Also, even though my rating already maxxed out at five stars, I would like to give it another four or five for including footage from ZAXXON.
W.A.S.P. - Wild Child
06/10/07, 17:48

Blackie Lawless was originally intended to play the T-1000, but Arnold Scwartzeneggar wanted to be the tallest person in the movie.

Imagine what could have been.

(also, the sawblades on his arms aren't anywhere near as ridiculous/awesome as his sawblade CODPIECE)
Story of kitten

-2:55 = "Oh, life is grand"
James Brown, Michael Jackson and Prince
06/09/07, 12:29

If they had performed "Cold Sweat" together in its entirety, we would currently be living in a world without war, poverty or hatred.
The Sonics - Boss Hoss
06/09/07, 09:47

I think it's underappreciated how awesome it is that every Sonics song has the same bridge.
The Sonics - Boss Hoss
06/09/07, 09:47

Unless you count their influence on the MC5, Stooges and New York Dolls, who, you know, were mighty influential.
"Proof evolution is an evil lie from Satan (the devil)."
06/08/07, 09:15

So mankind learned the concept of evolution by eating from the Tree of Knowledge?

That sort of implies that it's truth...
Blackalicious - Powers
06/08/07, 09:14

Gab is one of the best, most creative, and most musical MCs currently recording, by a fairly wide margin.

This is a sort of obvious attempt at doing the same thing as "Hey Ya" did, but it's great.
Black Out Band - Video Games
06/07/07, 09:15

The band's website says the singer sounds like Neil Young. I thought he sounded more like early, nodding Courtney Love.
Melvins - Revolve
06/06/07, 20:54

I just don't understand why the Melvins didn't become at least a LITTLE bigger a deal in the 90s.
Ice Cube's St. Ides commercial
06/06/07, 18:50

Before I saw this on late-night TV, I read about it in (I think) MOTHER JONES, with the article's author talking about how completely wretched a piece of marketing this was.

My thought was more along the lines of "\m/ (~ ~) \m/"
Fridays - Andy Kaufman's Infamous "Marijuana" Sketch
06/06/07, 10:38

And the crowd is all like "WAHOOOO THEY'RE MAKING JOKES ABOUT DRUGS WAHOOOOOOO"
Simpsons: Franzen Vs. Chabon
06/06/07, 10:29

Hey, remember when guest voices on the Simpsons didn't play themselves? Nowadays, the cameos feel like Phyllis Diller and Don Knotts on Scooby-Doo...
Blue Cheer - Summertime Blues
06/05/07, 20:59

Not sure it's live, to be honest -- the double-tracked vocals make the same flub* as in the studio version...

* at the end of the third verse, one voice says "what I'm a-gonna do" and the other says (I think) "what I...got to do." Yes, I have actually spent time considering the second-by-second running track of a Blue Cheer song. Color me geeky.
Gunther can't stay awake
06/05/07, 15:15

One of my adult cats falls asleep and falls face-first into the water dish every couple of days.

He's about as smart as a toad.
Alithea Remix
06/05/07, 12:49

We can only hope that someday, he'll have access to a webcam again...
