I used to think the conservative line of "Bush starting a war on false pretenses is just like when Clinton got a blowjob, and no one cared about THAT!" reasoning was just some blatant retroactive rationalizing, but now I'm convinced that there's just something about them that lacks any ability to distinguish any nuance at all.

There's an interesting little civil war game called AGEOD's Civil War. All of your commanders have both a strategy rating and political rating. The strategy rating reflects how effective they are at command, while the political rating simply reflects how well connected they are to receive cushy jobs. Promoting able commanders over those with better political connections results in loss of national morale and points as they raise a shit storm back in Washington.
Naturally McClellan is your worst commander but has an astronomical political rating. A big part of the game is picking the right time to fire McClellan and replace him with someone unpopular like Grant or Sherman and weathering the massive point hit penalty.
Or some people figured out you can cheat the system and just give McClellan a ghost command with a bare bones army patrolling New England while Grant fights the real war. |

It took some dipshit marketing executive to put "viral" + "cat videos" together and come up with this shitty irresponsible plan.
It took some dipshit store manager to agree to put their employees through cleaning up cat piss and shit, and god knows how much damaged merchandise.
It took some MAJOR dipshit cat owners to agree to put their pet in danger by letting them loose in a fucking IKEA with god knows how many hazards, not to mention the threat of fights with other cats (did they check them all for FIV beforehand?), all so they could be sub-reality TV celebrities for 2 seconds.
