Microsoft Internet Explorer: Child of the 90s

Even more surreal: attending the free food at the Windows Phone 7 launch party and watching a room full of people pretend to act how exciting and new this application was. It was like watching those North Korean propaganda videos when half a dozen people acted amazed that you could now use an ap in 2010 to look up cocktail recipes...ON YOUR PHONE!

I worked at a Microsoft business center a couple years ago. Constant stream of poor shlubs forced to fly in and attend classes on Windows upgrades because the companies were contractually obligated to. Every single feedback card was crying bullshit how the whole thing was just a commercial for the next product.

I can't remember if it was someone here who said that one of the biggest things that could be done to fight government corruption is not allowing government regulators to take a position in the industry they regulate at any point in the future.

Of course any such measure would be shot down by "right to work" advocates.

No one who's played this would think asteroid fields are more f-bomb worthy than solar flares!

It's fun until you realize there's really only one correct build that will let you win in the end (tanking + boarding). Unless you really really luck out with weapon drops.

I guess it makes sense if you only played the first one.

DMC1 was more proof of concept than anything else. Very rough in a lot of parts but it showed a bunch of new possibilities.

DMC2 felt like some godawful attempt to make a 3D Contra game.

DMC3 was near perfection. Hilarious cutscenes up there with Army of Darkness and great gameplay that treated combat like a Tony Hawk game (it goes from simply surviving to looking stylish as you get better). Passing it off as adolescent tripe is like saying Bruce Campbell is a wannabe 3 Stooges surfer dude; it only makes sense if you're tone deaf and wearing nerd-hate blinders, like the people who thought Equilibrium was 100% serious.

DMC4 was like the Civ3 of the series: for every improvement or good idea it had, there were five awful regressions.

Never played C&C4, but it's more like Metroid Other M. A game that appears to be a similar sequel but completely misses the point with a godawful story you can't wait to skip. The same thing happened when that game came out. There were a lot of legit criticisms but people couldn't advertise fast enough how boring and useless they were with delicious tears comments.

That's what I was getting at. People honestly look at the old DMC games and see generic badass 3dgy?

That's like not seeing any difference between Army of Darkness and Ultraviolet.
