A charity that collects cash money to buy video games for hospitals. That's about as admirable as hosting a fundraiser to make sure that homeless shelters are fully stocked with dirty magazines. What kind of gall does it take to toot your own horn over something like that?
Putting a quarter into a Jimmy Fund display does more good than all the money Childs Play has and will ever raise.
90% of the comics take some announcement or press release and churn out the same joke the entire internet already made about it a week ago. Zero effort to expanding on the joke. Never any secondary gags. Nothing visually interesting going on, most strips are just them standing there talking to thin air.
Tycho contends it takes a second guy as dedicated writer to come up with this stuff. Gabe is every awful bitter vindictive "nice guy" stereotype personified. Both are still bitter over highschool, letting news posts tell their former classmates "Now I drive a fucking Mercedes." |

The whole relationship between the young chick and dorky glasses guy in Sports Night encompasses that feeling. Their arc seemed to alternate between her announcing loudly to everyone that she's fucking him, and him getting to act self-righteous whenever she wronged him (she'd eventually crawl back begging him to fuck her).
God I hated that show. |

Aaron Sorkin is Very Original

How much of The Social Network was Sorkin and how much was David Fincher, a director with a long history of elevating source material to being better than it should be?
Sorkin's biggest weakness is still phony snappy dialog and obvious morals (the last 2 minutes of Social Network, really?). He tried to do the "character one step behind in conversation" trick with mutiple characters in every scene, and why is the president of Harvard talking like a Jeremy Piven character (who talks exactly like Pakistani cabinet members)?
I'm going to say Social Network was 40% Fincher, 40% cast. Kind of like how Charlie Wilson's war was carried by Phillip Seymour Hoffman. |

I almost got fired from a gig once for getting into an argument with the client on set. He was a real Milton Friedman style dick who would not shut up about his politics.
My breaking point was when the silver spoon prick started telling me how the minimum wage was just a feel good law that actually hurt everyone because it just forced businesses to raise prices for everyone to make up for costs. (keep in mind this guy had a million dollar networth between his house and cars alone).
My first response was "What do you suppose happens to sales when minimum wage workers suddenly have more money?"
He started mumbling something about profits until he circled back to the original point that getting rid of the minimum wage would only help the poor by keeping prices down.
So finally I asked him if slavery was a golden age where everything was free.
His actual response:
"Well, you still had to pay for the slaves. They weren't free."
