What plot holes did the Nostromo set design introduce? Rather than being a movie about a monster who is so clever that it takes down competent armed soldiers, every single crises in Aliens is the result of impossible stupidity well beyond an incompetent commanding officer (not a single person left behind on the Sulaco?).
The "dated" computer was a pretty good representation of the things in 1977.
There isn't a single frame of footage where the queen was stop motion. Puppet != stop motion. |

It really is an extremely weak plot saved entirely by the marine banter and sound design. |

Oh god, that FUCKING Robocop game. Some company got together and found a way to make Robocop BORING. Punches and dog bites can hurt him! Running out of time kills you more than bullets and explosions! Patiently sit around to defeat bosses!
I don't think I've been angrier at a potentially fun NES game since Battletoads. |

Setting them up for such a huge chance of being wiped out and stranded doesn't seem the best strategy for bringing back a sample.
I was so psyched for the third movie at the time, thinking "maybe this time they won't be completely retarded!", only to be greeted in the first 5 minutes with "Sorry, everyone died and the last movie didn't matter LOL" |

The whole crises of the movie was pretty silly when you think about it.
A big huge expensive marine ship full of expensive hardware is dispatched to scout out what could be potentially dozens or more deadly threats and to render assistance to a colony of hundreds, and they only send in one squad? Every single person is sent down in one dropship in the first wave (including the android whose only purpose is to run the ship), leaving the orbiting ship totally abandoned. SoP has the marines land their only means off the planet within the hostile zone with the back door left wide open. Rather then split a small recon group to scout the area where they'll be totally defenseless, they send in the entire squad at once.
Then you wonder how there got to be so many aliens when 1 person = 1 alien in a colony of "sixty, maybe seventy families" taking into account not every person would be incubated and that the colonists did take some down.
ANYWAY, it's probably a good example of a great cast (and sound design) saving a silly script.
Oh yeah, the game? I was excited up until I saw an alien tackle a marine only to be punched off =( |

I'm trying to think of shows that started out hilarious and managed to keep it up more than a year or two. It seems like all the longest running recent comedy greats started off rocky then picked up steam (Simpsons, Beavis & Butthead).
Maybe 30 Rock is the exception? I loved Party Down but it's also probably good they canceled it when they did. |

This is on Netflix instant so I checked out an episode out of morbid curiosity. This clip is pretty much the whole thing plus a billion other anime cliches.
The only thing I really remember is that one of the characters is the voice actress for the christian chick from Ghost Stories. |
