So I went and googled some approx. avg. bite strength in newtons:
Virginia Opossum - 30
Domestic Cat - 100
Human - 600
Rottweiler - 1500
Mastiff - 2500
Lion - 2700
Hyena - 4500
Great White Shark - 18000
T. Rex - 60000
So while I'd hate to grab a mad hissy one and get bit by all them little sharp teeth, opossums did not evolve their "shit yourself and faint" fighting move because of their powerful jaws being too badass to waste on mere self-defense.

Once they pass a certain point it would be far too painful for them to admit that they, their friends, and everyone they trust have been part of the problem the whole time. It would destroy their psyche and wreck their lives. They have to believe that they're fighting a holy war because the alternative is unthinkable, and you'll never convince them otherwise because they're hanging on to this belief for dear life.
Understanding it just makes it that much more depressing. |

In the 20th century the issue was "pollution", and it's the same interested parties, and their followers, who used to fight against environmental regulations back when the stakes were "may hurt people" instead of "may kill everything".
So the brains of the conservative right wing (wealthy gains tremendously by convincing their rank-and-file vote against their own self-interest because the ethyl lead industry creates jobs, unions are communist, damn tree hugging liberals, Jesus will save us etc.
A smart conservative Republican is a rich Libertarian who actually understands human nature. |

They go insane a lot. They're also self-replicating. I also have an executive model called the Angel, 33% of them went rogue and built an underground Hellbase that they attack from and drag victims to. They can also impregnate humans.
