I do get the feeling that a lot of this shit would get airborne if you put solid modern motors on it. Might not get very far tho.
The flying disc is awesome because that actually works. The US fighters to replace the P-51 were going to be flying discs until jets came along, and they decided to just put a jet engine in a P-51 instead. But we will have flying saucers YET. |

Normally if I watch a plane crash without audio I make cool crashy noises, but this one sounded like skidding brakes followed by a wet fart.
I do appreciate how the camera just focuses on the end of the runway, knowing that all the action will be taking place there shortly. |

At least he's still coherent here, you can see the man beneath. He was performing through 1977 when he didn't even know where he was. The decline of Groucho and his Senile Years stand as a lesson. Know when to pack it in, and make sure that if you get Alzheimers, your legal guardian isn't someone who will wheel you to every show in Hollywood to perform until you keel over dead from exhaustion. Many times I've heard "It's like when Grouch went senile" as a term for when an old act just gets tragic.
Groucho anecdote: When he vacationed to Berlin in the 50s and visited the site of Hitler's Bunker, he climbed onto the site and danced a frentic silent jig for several minutes on Hitler's grave. "With 6 million dead, it just doesn't feel good as it ought to."

I read about when Will Smith was playing him in "Ali", and Smith got absolutely into the zone and was spending the day in character, trash talking in rhyme, and Ali himself watched from one corner of the room and said "Was I really that goofball when I was that age? Don't matter, I was the Best."
He's certainly not the best athlete ever, or even best boxer, but he's The Best. Not just because he said he was, or because he was able to fit 4 boxing careers into 1 lifetime, but because he said he was the best and he made it STICK. |

See if the studio had smarts they'd have commissioned this Onion clip as viral advertisement. It makes me want to go see the movie. Now I'm expecting a fun sci-fi adventure instead of, y'know, a Star Trek movie.
