Fuck. Tho I do remember an interview from long ago when he was shilling his awesome flight simulator.. they asked him what the best fighter was.. "You take a good plane, you take a good pilot.. then always bet on the good pilot." He'd probably still be scoring kills in a P-51 if they'd let him.
He shot down a jet in a P-51? Fuuuck. |

His ejection seat landed on his head, his helmet melted onto his face. The truck driver who rescued him vomited uncontrllably upon seeing his face.
Yeager chose the most painful burn treatment possible, daily dermanl debridement. "It smarted a bit". But you can barely see the scars now.

As an adult, I appreciate the slick coolness of Belloq. But as a kid, it was trenchcoat Nazi who scared the shit out of me, all walking up to you with a red hot poker, quivering in excitement.

I don't know about entirely, but they don't want the EU to become a new pseudo-USA, with the individual states being subservient under a single all-powerful European federal government.
Most Europeans just aren't ready for that yet, but it's being pushed ahead by virtue of not giving the common people any say in the matter. The closest they can usually come to having a say is by electing anti-EU MEPs, like this guy seems to be. |

SPOILER: I read on the web that his nickname really comes from his Navy days. They had some huge surprise picnic on deck just as he went on duty, so he hollered in his Texas drawl "Y'all better leave me some that 'tater salad!" Half the crew heard, so the nickname became official.
It's a good enough story, but THIS one is a masterpiece of a yarn. |
